Newcastle vs Everton Prediction: BTTS trend to continue for the Magpies

After qualifying for the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League, Newcastle United return to Premier League action to face Everton (15:00 GMT). Eddie Howe’s side sit 11th, Everton are ninth, and both teams have work to do if they are going to crack the European spots.

Team News
We can expect Howe to name a more familiar XI in this one after making changes for the win over Qarabag in midweek, with Lewis Hall set to return at left-back following Alex Murphy’s debut.
Kieran Trippier is the only fit right-back so will start on the other side of the defence, with Malick Thiaw likely to reclaim his place next to Dan Burn at the heart of the back four. Anthony Gordon could well start up front with Yoane Wissa also in contention to lead the line.
Everton will be boosted by the return of Jake O’Brien after his one-match suspension, and he should return to his right-back position for David Moyes. That free James Garner up to move into midfield, while Harrison Armstrong and Iliman Ndiaye should offer the width.
Beto and Thierno Barry will battle it out for a spot up top, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall likely to continue in the number 10 role. They will want to show more attacking verve than they managed against Manchester United, though.
Newcastle vs Everton Predicted Lineups
- Newcastle - Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall; Joelinton, Tonali; Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes; Gordon
- Everton - Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Garner, Gueye; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong; Barry
Newcastle are priced at 8/11 to win this home game, giving them an implied win probability of 58%. An away win is 7/2 while a draw is priced at 3/1 for this Saturday clash.
BTTS and over 2.5 goals is 8/11, while Wissa is the favourite to score first at 4/1.
Newcastle vs Everton Stats
- Everton have 10 points from their last four away games
- Both teams have scored in the last nine Newcastle fixtures
- Both teams have scored in four of the last five Everton games
Double Chance - Draw or Everton @ 21/20
Newcastle may have secured a massive Champions League win in midweek - but I’m more comfortable backing Everton to get something at St. James’ Park. The Toffees have had their own struggles at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, but on the road recently they’ve been superb.
They’ve taken 10 points from their last four Premier League away games, and their last league away defeat came on December 13 to Chelsea. Moyes has made them tough to beat, and given Newcastle have lost their last two home Premier League games, I’ll back the Toffees to get something at a good price.

Both teams to score @ 4/5
I do think both teams will score in this one, given how open Newcastle have been of late. They’ve seen both teams find the net in their last nine outings in all competitions and even when they dominated Qarabag over two legs, they still gave up three goals across 180 minutes.
Everton aren’t quite as exciting but four of their last five matches have seen both teams score, with only Manchester United keeping them on bay on Monday. Could be a close score draw, which would mean both of our bets are settled as winners.
