Team News

Bruno Guimaraes picked up an ankle injury in the 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday but Eddie Howe thinks that there is a chance the club captain could feature on Sunday.

Dan Burn (rib) and Will Osula (ankle) are reportedly in contention to be available, but Jacob Murphy,  Tino Livramento (both hamstring), Emil Krafth (knee) and Fabian Schar (ankle) remain confined to the treatment room.

Premier League Odds

Villa midfielder John McGinn is set for a spell on the sidelines with a knee problem, while goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is suffering with a calf issue.

Boubacar Kamara and Ross Barkley  (both knee) are also ruled out, with the former set for months out of action.

Amadou Onana is available again after his own injury absence.

I struggle to see this happening on Tyneside because Newcastle tend to deliver their best stuff on home soil. Seven wins from 11 matches is not to be ignored and the Magpies might be slightly more refreshed than their opponents after an extra day of rest and recovery.

The hosts have won three of their past four games in the top flight and they have a lot more momentum than Villa right now, and this might be the difference on Sunday.

Villa have not scored in their last two league games, so there will be an onus to be more clinical in the final third against Newcastle. With the quality that they possess in attack, they can certainly ask questions of the home defence.
