Mo Salah Next Club Odds: Saudis set their sights on the Egyptian King

It’s the end of an era! There wasn’t a dry eye in the red half of Liverpool on Tuesday night as Mohamed Salah announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The Egyptian genius will leave the club as Liverpool’s third all-time top scorer behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285). Salah has 255 goals and will play out the rest of the season where Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League and in the quarter finals of both the Champions League and FA Cup.
Our oddsmakers have priced up where Salah could be playing his football next season and we take a look at the leading contenders.

It’s no surprise that any Saudi Pro League team is the even-money favourite. As well as being suitors for Salah last summer, when there were question marks over him signing a new contract, we’ve seen a plethora of more mature players make the move East to make hay while the sun shines.
Indeed, former Liverpool alumni Fabinho (Al-Ittihad), Georginio Wijnaldum (Al-Ettifaq) and Roberto Firmino (Al Sadd) all ply their trade in Saudi Arabia, and it would not be a surprise to see Salah line up there next season.
For similar reasons, any MLS team might be appealing to the Egyptian. Son Heung-min made the move to LAFC last summer, whilst Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are still carving it up for Inter Miami. The 2/1 shot could be appealing as MLS continues to strengthen its international appeal following the World Cup.
Former club Roma is an 8/1 chance. Rumours were that I Giallorossi were sniffing around last summer for their former forward, and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him once again don the iconic red jersey in Italy’s capital.
At bigger prices, Barcelona has some appeal. Despite being an exceptionally young squad, Barca don’t shy away from signing older players, Robert Lewandowski, for example, and if they’re picking Salah up on a free transfer, Barca could make a move for the dynamo to play a role with Lamine Yamal in that exciting Catalan forward line.
AC Milan are another 16/1 chance, although that may test his resolve, having formally played for Roma.
At 20/1, you can pick any one of Newcastle, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray. It feels unlikely he’ll move to another Premier League club, so we can put a line through the Geordies.
Bayern could be an option given they love to blend old with new. It would also give him the chance to team up with another familiar face in Luis Diaz and challenge for silverware both domestically and in Europe.
You’d never put anything past Real making a play for the Egyptian, whilst it feels unlikely he’s ready to be put out to pasture in the Turkish league, which would also rule out Fenerbahce.
Wherever Salah ends up, it’s been an incredible nine years for Liverpool and the Premier League won’t feel quite the same without The Egyptian King.
