Liverpool look to fortify their Champions League place as chaotic Chelsea head to Anfield (TNT Sports 1, 12:30 BST). Slot’s title-defending Reds look to put a 3-2 defeat to sworn enemies Manchester United behind them while Chelsea look to avoid a seventh consecutive Premier League.

I’ve sized up this big occasion and come up with a rather tasty set of Liverpool vs Chelsea Bet Builder tips, if I do say so myself.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips

Over 3.5 total goals - Yes

Sorry, Blues fans but I don’t imagine a lot of these goals being yours. But they could be, which is the beauty of the total goals market. Blind ambition and arch pragmatism combined. Lovely.

Chelsea have conceded three goals in four of their last six outings. But Liverpool aren’t watertight at the back either, which I think will take us over the three-goal threshold. Michael Carrick’s supply-taught Devils stuck a triple threat past them while Crystal Palace, Everton and Brighton have all scored against the Reds recently.

This game has goals. Whatever the balance of them, I think over 3.5 is a worthy shout.

Football Odds

Both teams to score - Yes

See, you sturdy Stamford Bridgers, I even think you’ll score! You’ve done it before, after all. Sure, a sole consolation against Nottingham Forest last weekend is the sum total of your league strikes since the first week of March, but a goal is a goal.

I don’t expect the floodgates to open, but I do find Liverpool’s defence ropey enough to open the door for temporary measure Calum MacFarlane’s men to register. After all, the Reds have conceded seven goals in their last five outings. Chelsea can exploit that.

 Liverpool vs Chelsea Stats

  • Chelsea have scored just one goal in their last six Premier League outings
  • Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has completed 2,574 passes this season, more than any other Premier League player

Match Result - Liverpool to win

Sorry Chelsea fans, the mask had to slip eventually. You aren’t winning this game. Why? Because your club has been utterly shambolic recently. You have been let down at board level, that much is true. But on the pitch, the expensively-assembled playing staff had undulated between looking like strangers to each other and looking like strangers to the concept of professional soccer.

So I am leaning towards Liverpool here. After a topsy-turvy season, Slot’s men have found a fairly respectable vein of form. United let some air out of the Anfield tyres, but they’d won three league games on the bounce before heading to Old Trafford. I reckon Liverpool have got more than enough to beat the beleaguered Blues.
