Everton vs Newcastle Stats-Based Bet Builder Tips: 9/1 shot for further away misery

Newcastle United threw away a one-goal lead in Marseille in midweek, while Everton recorded a wonderful 1-0 win at Old Trafford with 10men on Monday night.

Everton to win

Newcastle have won their last six home games on the bounce but their away form by contrast is abysmal. Eddie Howe has now seen his team lose four away games in a row, including league defeats at West Ham and Brentford. 

I’m also backing the Toffees to win as they had a free midweek after a Monday night win in Manchester, whilst Newcastle had to travel to the south of France and back on Tuesday - so the home team should be slightly fresher. The Toffees have only been beaten once in their new stadium, winning three of six PL outings, and I think they can trouble Newcastle on Saturday.

Newcastle have also seen an awful lot of goals at both ends recently. Their last three outings, or four of their last five in all competitions, have seen both teams find the net, and they sit at a 58% hit rate across the entire Premier League season. 

Offensively they are fantastic, but teams just seem to be able to get at them, especially away from home. Their last four away games have all ended in defeat, but they have found the net in all of them, so I’m going to back that pattern to continue here. 

Tim Iroegbunam to get booked

He didn’t start against Manchester United, but the fact that Idrissa Gana Gueye decided to slap his own teammate and get a red card means that the midfielder should come into the starting XI. Fortunately for our Bet Builder, when Iroegbunam starts in the Premier League - he gets booked. 

He has only started four PL games this season but has been booked in each of them, so it makes sense in my eyes to back him to pick up his fifth yellow. 

Bruno Guimaraes 2+ tackles 

Newcastle’s captain is everywhere in midfield, so I think backing him to make 2+ tackles in the north west is the best way to round off our Bet Builder. He has made 22 tackles this season in the league, averaging 2.01 per game, so as long as he does that, this part of the bet will be a winner. 

Given Everton’s talented ball carriers such as Jack Grealish and Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall, the away side should have a fair amount of defending to do. Our Bet Builder pays 9/1 for this intriguing Saturday fixture.
