Premier league predictions

Gameweek 6 of the Premier League comes our way this weekend and I, Conor, have still work to do on the predictions leaderboard. Last week was a decent effort, though, with two correct scores, as was the same from Nick.

With some more games to look forward to, check out our latest Premier League predictions below.

Brentford vs Manchester United (Saturday 12:30 BST) - 2-2 @ 11/1

After losing 3-1 at Fulham last weekend, Brentford will hope that being back on home soil will bring them comfort. They host Manchester United in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, who defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford last time out.

I don't think either side is particularly excelling right now and I'm not confident in backing either of them to win so I'm going to sit on the fence and go for a high-scoring draw.

Nick: 2-1

Simon: 0-2

Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 2-2 @ 11/1

It's a similar thought process for this match as Chelsea welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge. The Blues will look for a response to last week's defeat and they will have to cope without goalkeeper Robert Sanchez because of his suspension.

The Seagulls let a two-goal lead slip against Tottenham last weekend and had to settle for a point in the end. Their defence has some concerns, but the same can be said for Chelsea. I think this could be another entertaining stalemate.

Nick: 2-2

Simon: 3-1

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-1 @ 13/2

Both Crystal Palace and Liverpool are yet to be beaten in the Premier League, and I think this contest may be played out like a chess match. You have top scorers Liverpool (15 goals scored) against a Palace side with the joint-best defensive record (two goals conceded).

I can see them cancelling one another out in a low-scoring draw at Selhurst Park.

Nick: 0-1

Simon: 1-1

Leeds United vs AFC Bournemouth (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-2 @ 8/1

Leeds United recorded an emphatic 3-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. They will look to channel that momentum when they host AFC Bournemouth at Elland Road.

The Cherries were held to a goalless draw at home against Newcastle United last weekend but they had won three on the spin before that. There is no doubt that this is a tougher test for Leeds than Wolves were. I'm going for a narrow away win.

Nick: 1-2

Simon: 0-3

Manchester City vs Burnley (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 3-0 @ 6/1

Manchester City were left bitterly disappointed as they conceded an injury-time equaliser against title rivals Arsenal last Sunday. The Citizens turned in a professional performance and looked like they were going to beat the Gunners at their own game.

They are back at the Etihad on Saturday to face Burnley, giving themselves another opportunity to put three points on the board. I am expecting Pep Guardiola's side to have too much for the Clarets to handle so I am backing a routine 3-0 victory here.

Nick: 4-0

Simon: 3-0

Nottingham Forest vs Sunderland (Saturday 17:30 BST) - 1-1 @ 6/1

Nottingham Forest are still searching for their first Premier League win under Ange Postecoglou and the Tricky Trees are on the box in the evening slot on Saturday as they host Sunderland at the City Ground.

Forest drew at Burnley last weekend, while Sunderland fought back to earn a point at home to Aston Villa. The Black Cats have fared better at home so far but I think against a team still figuring out their new identity, I think they can come away with a point.

Nick: 2-1

Simon: 0-0

Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (Saturday 20:00 BST) - 3-1 @ 11/1

For the third week in a row there's night-time action on Saturday as Tottenham Hotspur face Wolves. The Old Gold gave themselves a much-needed lift in midweek as they beat Everton in the Carabao Cup, but I fear their league woes will continue against a Spurs side who have started the season well.

I think there is a huge gulf in class between the two teams and I think it will reflect in the scoreline this weekend.

Nick: 3-2

Simon: 3-0

Aston Villa vs Fulham (Sunday 14:30 BST) - 1-1 @ 11/1

There was more frustration for Aston Villa last week as they left Sunderland with just a point, despite spending a lot of the match with an extra man due to Reinildo's first-half red card.

Something currently seems off about the Villans, and it was no surprise to see the club part ways with director of football operations, Monchi, in the week as concerns continue to grow. Villa host Fulham at Villa Park on Sunday as they still seek their first win of the season.

The Cottagers head here off the back of a 3-1 triumph over local rivals Brentford, and they will sense that Unai Emery's side are there for the taking. However, I think the hosts will be able to conjure enough to be able to put another point on the board.

Nick: 1-1

Simon: 0-1

Newcastle United vs Arsenal (Sunday 16:30 BST) 0-2 @ 9/1

Newcastle are currently struggling for goals and there appears to be a huge Alexander Isak-shaped hole in their side. The Magpies have mustered just three goals in five Premier League matches so far this season, blanking in three of them.

They welcome Arsenal to St. James' Park on Sunday. Both sides have strong defensive records. Arsenal have conceded two goals, while Newcastle have conceded just three themselves.

The Gunners are having better joy in front of goal, though, and I believe they will punish Newcastle's lack of cutting edge on Tyneside.

Nick: 1-1

Simon: 2-2

Everton vs West Ham United (Monday 20:00 BST) - 2-0 @ 15/2

West Ham United's troubles continued last weekend as they lost at home again, this time to Crystal Palace. Irons boss Graham Potter is under increasing pressure and you get the sense that he needs a result when they travel to Everton on Monday night.

The Toffees have started the season well and they are in a much healthier position on and off the pitch than their opponents. The likes of Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye should be refreshed for this game, and I think they could spell the end of Potter at West Ham.

Nick: 2-0
