Brentford vs Newcastle Prediction: Bees to sting the Magpies

Brentford will look to bounce back from last week's defeat at Crystal Palace in the Premier League when they host Newcastle United at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday (14:00 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event). The Bees have won three of their five home games in the top flight, with the latest coming against Liverpool.
The visitors are yet to really get going in the league, with the Magpies having failed to win on their travels so far this term. Below are my Brentford vs Newcastle predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Brentford are currently having to deal with injuries to Benjamin Arthur, Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva, who are ruled out with knee problems. Milambo underwent surgery in the week as part of his recovery process.
Keith Andrews will be pleased that he has all of his big-hitters to choose from on Sunday, which will give the Bees a big boost against one of the worst-performing away teams in the division.
They will look to exploit Newcastle's weaknesses with the attacking talents of Igor Thiago, Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara.
Harrison Ashby (thigh), Tino Livramento (knee), Anthony Gordon (hip) and Will Osula (unspecified) are ruled out for Newcastle on Sunday. Former Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is still waiting to make his debut for the visitors and it is unlikely to come at his old stomping ground as he builds up his match fitness.
Bruno Guimaraes missed his side's Uefa Champions League win over Athletic Club in the week due to illness, so he will need to be assessed ahead of the weekend.
In Gordon's absence, Eddie Howe must decide between Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga to start on the left flank.
Brentford vs Newcastle Predicted Lineups
- Brentford: Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer; Henderson, Yarmoliuk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago
- Newcastle: Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Joelinton, Tonali, Guimaraes; Murphy, Woltemade, Barnes
With three home wins from five in the league, Brentford are 15/8 (implied probability of 34.8%) to come out on top in this clash.
The draw is priced at 12/5, which has been the outcome in three of Newcastle's five away fixtures in the top flight.
The Magpies are 6/4 to come away with the three points but they are yet to win on their travels and have won just three games from 10 in the Premier League this campaign.
The hosts have managed just two clean sheets in their last 20 home games in the league and BTTS - Yes is on offer at 8/13.
Brentford vs Newcastle Stats
- Newcastle are winless on the road in the PL this season
- Brentford have won three of their five home matches in the league
- Kevin Shade (BRE) has two goals in the league
Match Result - Brentford @ 15/8
Brentford are an excellent price to win this game, in my opinion. I think everyone has been impressed with how well they have fared this season despite losing two of their best players and head coach of seven years in the summer.
I was skeptical of Andrews' appointment but so far he has proved me wrong. The Bees are 12th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three (at the time of writing) and they have been excellent when playing at home. Brentford have beaten Aston Villa, Manchester United and Liverpool, while taking a point against west London rivals Chelsea.
They are up against a Newcastle side who are having plenty of joy in the Champions League but are finding it difficult to perform in the Premier League. The Magpies are winless on the road and last week's 3-1 defeat at struggling West Ham United did raise some flags.
Howe needs to find a way for his players to perform in the league as they are in Europe, otherwise the opportunity to finish in the top four will pass them by.
I'm backing them for more misery in the capital on Sunday because Brentford are one of the strongest home teams in the division and the Magpies are one of the worst-performing away teams.

Anytime Goalscorer - Kevin Schade @ 13/5
Newcastle's back line is not blessed with pace, particularly with Livramento sidelined. I see Sunday presenting an excellent opportunity for Brentford's rapid forward, Schade, to get back amongst the goals.
The German forward has found the net on two occasions in the league so far this campaign - against Chelsea and most recently Liverpool. I think the goal against the Reds in his last home appearance will have given him a needed confidence boost, especially ahead a clash against a team who for the life of them cannot buy a win on their travels.
His pace is a weapon that he can use to exploit the Magpies' back line and net his third goal of the season.
