Aston Villa vs Fulham Prediction: Boring affair at Villa Park?

Watching Aston Villa this season has been a bit traumatic for the home faithful. After such a fantastic run last season in the Champions League and having fought near the top of the Premier League, it’s been a drastic fall from grace in 2025/26.

Unai Emery will hope to get them back on track as they welcome Fulham to Villa Park on Sunday (14:00, Sky Sports Main Event). Below you can find my Aston Villa vs Fulham predictions featuring team news and betting tips.

Aston Villa vs Fulham Betting Tips

Team News

Villa secured a 1-0 home win over Bologna on Thursday night and it will be interesting to see how many changes Emery makes from that team. Marco Bizot started in goal as Emiliano Martinez is dealing with ‘muscle pain’ but that issue is only thought to be a short-term one.

Even so, I’d expect Bizot to hold onto the gloves, while Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen started as the back four. Lucas Digne has been preferred to Maatsen this season at left-back and could reclaim his starting spot, while John McGinn is likely to hold onto his place in midfield having scored the winner.

The final third is difficult to call given Villa have only scored one league goal this campaign. Donyell Malen started up front in Europe with Ollie Watkins used as an impact sub, but you’d expect the Englishman to get back into the team here.

Fellow subs Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott could also bring some spark out wide, while Emi Buendia has forced his way back into the reckoning and could work as a winger or as a number 10. Morgan Rogers and Evann Guessand started the last Premier League match and will hope to hold onto their starting spots.

Fulham got a midweek win over Cambridge United, but are likely to revert back to the XI that beat Brentford in style. Bernd Leno is steady in goal, while Joachim Andersen and Calvin Bassey have established a decent centre-back partnership.

Getting Kevin into the starting XI is surely now a priority for Marco Silva, and he should come in to start ahead of Harry Wilson. Emile Smith Rowe and Josh King continue to tussle it out for that number 10 role, with the latter seemingly the preferred option at this moment in time.

Aston Villa vs Fulham Predicted Line-ups

Aston Villa- Bizot; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Kamara; Buendia, Rogers, Sancho; Watkins

Fulham - Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Lukic, Berge; Kevin, King, Iwobi; Muniz

Aston Villa vs Fulham Odds

Aston Villa are 13/10 to win this home game, giving them an implied win percentage of 43%. A Fulham win is priced up at 23/10 while a share of the spoils is 9/4.

Goals have been hard to come by for Villa this season, but if you back the floodgates to burst open one way or another, over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and BTTS is 10/11. Watkins is itching to get off the mark this term and remains the favourite to score first at 4/1.

Aston Villa vs Fulham Stats

  • Aston Villa have scored one home goal this season in all comps
  • Only one Fulham game has seen more than 2.5 goals

Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Sorry sports fans. I know you will tune into this Super Sunday fixture hoping for entertainment, but I just don’t think we are going to get it. Fulham were entertaining last week but every single one of their other matches this season has seen under 2.5 goals in all competitions.

They only managed a 1-0 win over Cambridge last time out, and they have only played two away games in total so far this term, scoring one goal. Silva’s men aren’t great going forward and neither are Villa. The hosts won this fixture 1-0 last season, and that came in May, but in 2025/26 they have only managed one league goal, and zero have come at Villa Park.

This should be a tepid affair at both ends.

Aston Villa 0-0 Fulham @ 8/1

Talking of which, the 0-0 appeals to me at a massive price. Aston Villa were known as a fine attacking team and Watkins is a lethal striker… or at least, he was. So far, they have looked disjointed and with the likes of Elliott, Sancho and Guessand all arriving at the club, I don’t think Emery knows his best attacking unit yet.

Fulham have a decent defence, and although Kevin is exciting, I can see both teams cancelling each other out. Villa rank 13th for xG this season, while Fulham are 16th, so even the underlying numbers suggest that this game will not be an exciting one. All in all, I think a small stake on 0-0 is worth considering.
