Portugal vs Finland Prediction: Hosts to have fun in Lisbon

Portugal host Finland at Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon on Tuesday night (19:45) in a friendly that serves as a warm-up for Euro 2024. The Lusos are seen as one of the favourites to win the tournament in Germany, which would see them match their success in 2016 as they claimed their first-ever major title.
Roberto Martinez will want to get a good look at his squad over the next week to gauge what his opening lineup could be at the Euros, so there will be plenty of players looking to impress. Read on for my Portugal vs Finland prediction, including match odds and team news.
Portugal are the 1/6 favourites to win here, giving them an implied probability of 85.7%. Finland are valued at 14/1, which gives them just a 6.7% shot at victory. The draw can be backed at 13/2 (13.3%).
Both teams to score is marketed at 11/10 and over 2.5 goals is on offer at 4/9.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who has a world record 128 senior international goals, is 2/1 to open the scoring in Lisbon.
Team News
Ronaldo looks set to earn his 207th cap against Finland and he is expected to be a key figure for Portugal in a major tournament once again at the age of 39. Rafael Leao and Diogo Jota could be in line to join the veteran in attack as Martinez may trial different options in the next two friendlies.
Manchester United duo Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes look to be guaranteed starters for the Euros and should feature here. Another veteran in the squad is defender Pepe, and at the age of 41, he could be given the green light to start against Finland.
Striker Teemu Pukki is still going on the international stage for Finland at 34, and he will carry his side's biggest threat against the hosts.
Portugal -2 handicap @ 11/8
With the abundance of quality Portugal have in their squad, I think they should beat Finland comfortably. And because there is no value to be had in backing them just to win, I've gone for a -2 handicap.
Martinez's side are one of the favourites for Euro glory and you need only look at their squad list to see why. In attack they have Ronaldo, Jota, Leao, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, Bernardo Silva and Goncalo Ramos to choose from, and all of these players can make a difference for the Lusos in Germany.
There will be a lot of players over the next two friendlies who will be wanting to show the manager what exactly they can offer to the team at the Euros and why they should be in the starting XI.
I think Finland are going to be in for a tough evening here and I expect their defence are going to have lots of problems on their hands in trying to keep out Portugal's attackers.
Diogo Jota anytime goalscorer @ 5/4
If he is to be given the nod to start in Lisbon, I fancy Jota to get on the scoresheet against Finland. His goalscoring abilities have been heightened since becoming a Liverpool player and considering he is not a natural centre-forward, his finishing is sublime.
After a few injuries this term, the attacking star will want to get some more minutes under his belt heading into a major tournament, and by grabbing a goal, his confidence will increase too.
Due to the quality around him in attack, and those on the bench, there should be chances aplenty for forward players in this Portugal team and probably other than Ronaldo, you would back this man to put away most that do come his way.
He has 12 goals in 36 appearances since making his debut five years ago, and I expect we could see this rise over the course of the summer.
