Portugal and Croatia's Euro 2024 preparations continue with a friendly against one another at Centro Desportivo Nacional do Jamor on Saturday evening (17:45, Premier Sports 2).

Portugal recorded a 4-2 victory over Finland last time out while Croatia were 3-0 winners over North Macedonia in their most recent outing. Read on for my Portugal vs Croatia prediction, including match odds and team news.

Portugal vs Croatia Betting Tips

  • Portugal and both teams to score @ 11/4
  • Over 3.5 goals @ 5/2

Portugal vs Croatia Odds

Portugal are 4/6 to win here, giving them a 60% chance of victory. Croatia are priced at 4/1, which gives them an implied probability of 20%. The draw can be backed at 11/4 (26.7%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 10/11 and over 2.5 goals is available at the same odds.

Team News

After coming off the bench to net a brace against Finland, Bruno Fernandes could come into Portugal's lineup here, but Roberto Martinez might opt to only hand his key players cameos as to not risk them before the Euros starts. This could also apply to the likes of Bernardo Silva, and Diogo Dalot, who were also on the bench last time out.

Joao Palhinha, Ruben Dias and Vitinha amongst others could be rotated from the starting XI for the same reason.

We could see Croatia captain Luka Modric come into the fray after being given a few days to recover from the Champions League final with Real Madrid on Saturday. Although he was named on the bench against North Macedonia, Nikola Vlasic is unlikely to feature as he has just recovered from an abductor injury.

Portugal and both teams to score @ 11/4

Teemu Pukki's quick-fire brace for Finland may have given Portugal a scare earlier in the week, but Fernandes put the game beyond doubt soon after. Martinez's side are regarded as one of the pre-tournament favourites and when you look at their attacking ranks, it's easy to understand why.

It is hard to gauge what Portugal's attack will look like here given they still have one more friendly to go after this, which comes against the Republic of Ireland, but I still think their second-string attack can cause problems for Croatia, who in turn could rotate themselves.

With the level of talent that both sides possess, I think this could be a competitive game, but I am expecting Portugal to come out on top. Overall, I think their options in attack are better than that of their opponents, but I think their defence remains their weak link.

Portugal and both teams to score at 11/4 Over 3.5 goals @ 5/2

I do see this contest delivering in entertainment value and by that I mean goals. I think 5/2 offers good value for there to be at least four goals here and given the recent records of both sides, it would be a sensible selection.

Two of Portugal's last three wins have seen at least four goals scored, while five of their last seven matches on home soil have also seen over 3.5 goals land. Three or more goals has also been a winning selection in seven of their last nine friendlies.

In addition, six of Croatia'a last eight away matches has seen at least three goals scored, so both sides have been involved in a lot of high-scoring affairs in recent international breaks.
