Portsmouth have gathered six of their seven league victories on home soil and will be targeting another maximum when hosting relegation rivals Cardiff in a high stakes Championship clash at Fratton Park on Tuesday night (19:45, Sky Sports+).

Portsmouth took a lot of positives from their performance in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Sheffield United and they can respond by defeating relegation rivals Cardiff on the south coast.

Home form has been key for John Mousinho’s side, who have taken 20 points from their last nine Fratton Park fixtures.

And they should be confident of causing problems for Cardiff, who were beaten 7-0 at Leeds in their last Championship encounter.

The winter months had seen an improvement from the Bluebirds, who stayed unbeaten throughout January and managed to haul themselves out of the drop zone.

But standards dropped significantly in the dreadful defeat at Elland Road and there could be further misery inflicted by a Portsmouth side intent on giving their home fans another memorable evening.
