Port Vale vs Arsenal Prediction: 11/2 Trossard set to impress

Arsenal begin their Carabao Cup campaign on Wednesday evening as they travel to Vale Park to face League 1 outfit Port Vale (20:00 BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Team News

Wrexham loanee Mo Faal has recovered from a hamstring problem for the hosts, so he should feature on Wednesday.

However, Liam Gordon was forced off with an injury in the 79th minute of Port Vale's victory over Mansfield Town at the weekend, while Mitch Clark and Kyle John will also be sidelined for this clash.

As for Arsenal, the Gunners came out of the weekend's draw with Manchester City with further injury woes, as Piero Hincapie failed to make the matchday squad with a groin issue, and Noni Madueke was withdrawn at half time with a knee injury.

Those two will now join the likes of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard in the treatment room, but Bukayo Saka and Ben White made welcome returns to the squad on Sunday.

The hosts are unsurprisingly huge outsiders for Wednesday's tie at 28/1, with the Gunners a 1/10 shot to win in 90 minutes, giving them an implied win probability of 90.9%.

The draw after 90 minutes can be backed at 9/1, while Arsenal are 1/33 to win the tie and it's 10/1 for Port Vale to book their place in the next round.

Victor Gyokeres currently leads the anytime goalscorer market at 4/7, followed by Eberechi Eze at 19/20, and Devante Cole is shortest-priced for the hosts at 4/1.

With Arsenal likely to make several changes to the side that drew with City at the weekend, one of the beneficiaries could be former Brighton and Hove Albion man Leandro Trossard.
