Port Vale play host to Sutton United on Tuesday night in a third-round Carabao Cup tie at Vale Park.

The Valiants come into their midweek cup clash looking to make a return to winning ways, while Sutton United haven’t found much success at all this season.

Port Vale vs Sutton Prediction

  • Port Vale/Port Vale – Half-time/Full-time @ 8/5
  • Port Vale over 1.5 goals @ 8/11

Team News

The hosts will be without the services of Tom Conlon, while doubts remain over the fitness of Ryan Loft and Joshua Thomas.

As for the visitors, the notable absentee is Scott Kashket, who will be on the treatment table for the foreseeable future after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury last week against Aston Villa U21s.

Port Vale/Port Vale – Half-time/Full-time @ 8/5

Sutton are without a win in their last five, so I can’t see anything other than a comfortable win for the hosts here.

The U’s have overcome League One opposition twice in this competition already, but I think this will be a step too far for them on Tuesday evening.

Port Vale will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points against Cambridge United at the weekend, and will see this clash against a League Two side as a great opportunity to progress into the next round of the cup.

Port Vale over 1.5 goals @ 8/11

Port Vale have scored in eight of their last nine matches, and they’re coming up against a Sutton United side that have conceded in 19 of their last 20 outings.

The U’s have conceded the highest amount of goals in League Two, and are languishing down at the bottom of the table, so Port Vale should get plenty of opportunities to get on the scoresheet here.

Over 1.5 Port Vale goals landed in their previous home clash against Burton Albion, and also in the first round of this competition against Fleetwood, so I fancy it to come in once again here.
