Over 2.5 Goals Tips: Couple South American selections in Tuesday’s 10/1 acca

The over 2.5 goals column returned on Saturday after a brief hiatus, and we weren't too far off landing the 5/1 shot as three games hit the mark, with Fredrikstad-Molde the only one to let us down as they played out a goalless draw in Norway.

We return this week looking to go one better than last time, with the same number of selections but double the odds at 10/1 in Tuesday's over 2.5 goals tips.

Over 2.5 goals in EC Juventude vs Atletico Mineiro @ 11/8

Two sides separated by just two points in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A meet at Estadio Alfredo Jaconi in Caxias do Sul on Tuesday (23:00), as Juventude host Atletico Mineiro.

It's been a solid start to the season for Juventude, who returned to the Brazilian top-tier at the first time of asking following their relegation in 2022, as they currently sit seven points above the drop zone after 14 games.

Atletico-MG have played 15 and won't be happy with their efforts so far this term having finished third and just four points off top last year. Their recent form has been poor with just two wins in their last eight, and indiscipline has plagued their season; Galo have received six red cards in the league, including two in their last three matches.

Their fans certainly don't lack for entertainment, with Atletico-MG second only to Sao Paulo in the over 2.5 goals table; the latter have seen 69% (11/16) of their games finish with at least three goals, while it's 67% (10/15) for the former.

Atletico's away record contributes significantly towards that, with 86% of their away outings ending with over 2.5 goals compared to 50% of their home matches.

Juventude rank towards the lower end of the over 2.5 goals table, sat 15th out of 20 with just 43% (6/14) of their matches finishing with at least three goals scored.

However, there has been a shift recently, with five of their last seven league outings ending that way, while they won 2-1 at Internacional in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil tie last Wednesday.

Juventude are unbeaten at home on their return to Serie A, collecting 17 points from a possible 21, and Atletico will have their work cut out to achieve a positive result.

It all sets up for a cracking encounter on Tuesday, which should produce plenty of goals.

Over 2.5 goals in Boyaca Chico vs Once Caldas @ 5/4

Over in Colombia, Boyaca Chico host Once Caldas at Estadio La Independencia in Tunja on Tuesday (02:15), kicking off the Primera A Clausura campaign.

There were 11 points separating these sides in the Apertura earlier this year, with Once Caldas eighth and Chico 17th in the 20-team division.

Fans were starved of goalmouth action in Once Caldas games as there were just 32 goals - 16 for and as many against - in their 19 matches, in sharp contrast to the 57 goals scored when Chico were involved, although 35 of them went into their own net.

Head-to-heads between the two have generally served up a few strikes in recent years, with three of the four contests since 2021 seeing at least three goals, including the most recent two, a 2-1 win for Chico in October last year and a 2-1 victory for Once Caldas in January.

Chico haven't been in competitive action since April but their last five games in all competitions up to that point all saw over 2.5 goals land, and I'm backing a sixth here on Tuesday.

Over 2.5 goals in Chengdu Rongcheng vs Nantong Zhiyun FC @ 4/9

Chengdu Rongcheng and Nantong Zhiyun FC meet in the last 16 of the Chinese FA Cup on Tuesday (12:35), with the hosts looking to beat their opponents for the third time this year after 1-0 wins home and away in the Chinese Super League.

The most recent of those head-to-heads was on July 7, and it was the only one of their last four league games to go under 2.5 goals.

Nevertheless, I'm backing at least three goals in their cup clash, with both teams scoring in each of these teams' previous matches in the competition, Nantong Zhiyun's providing four goals as they beat Ganzhou Ruishi 3-1 away.

Seven of Chengdu Rongcheng's last eight home games have seen over 2.5 goals land, while Nantong Zhiyun's last seven on their travels have produced at least three goals.

Over 2.5 goals in Hibernian vs Queen's Park @ 8/15

Lastly, we have a Scottish League Cup group match between Hibernian and Queen's Park at Easter Road in Edinburgh (19:45, Premier Sports 1).

Both sides kicked off Group C with 5-0 wins away from home, with Hibs overpowering Elgin and Queen's Park thrashing Peterhead.

I'm not sure whether we will see quite as many as five goals on Tuesday, certainly not in the direction of one team, but I am confident viewers won't be left wanting.

Hibs striker Dylan Vente hit a hat-trick on Saturday while new recruit and fellow forward Martin Boyle also got himself on the scoresheet, so the duo will both be in high spirits heading into this match.

Queen's Park saw both of their forwards net on Saturday, too, with Zak Rudden and Roddy MacGregor each scoring once, setting up an intriguing tie on Tuesday.
