Another action-packed Saturday of football is around the corner, so it's only right that we go looking for entertainment in the over 2.5 goals tips column.

My Saturday five-fold comes from five different leagues and prices up at 7.54/1.

Over 2.5 Goals in Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United (12:30) @ 8/15

Brighton made a terrific start to life under Fabian Hurzeler, beating Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park on the opening weekend of the season. Perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised given that the Seagulls had scored goals for fun in pre-season, thrashing Kashima Antlers 5-1, Tokyo Verdy 4-2 and Villarreal 4-0, but producing the goods in a competitive contest, especially against a Sean Dyche side, is another thing.

Manchester United were less impressive in victory over Fulham, beating the Cottagers 1-0 via an 87th-minute strike from substitute Joshua Zirkzee. However, I don't envisage such a low-scoring encounter in their game on Saturday, given the defensive set-up - or lack of one - under Erik ten Hag.

In truth, Fulham should have punished the Red Devils on a couple of occasions, but sloppiness on the ball cost them. Brighton are unlikely to be as kind at the Amex Stadium, with wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh in scintillating form on Merseyside last weekend. Add in Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro, as well as Simon Adingra off the bench, and you have a dangerous concoction for the Man Utd defence to deal with.

Ten Hag's side won the corresponding fixture last season 2-0 in May but were beaten 3-1 at Old Trafford last September. I can see a similar scoreline to the latter on Saturday, with both sides confident of finding the net at least once.

Over 2.5 Goals in 1899 Hoffenheim vs Holstein Kiel (14:30) @ 8/15

It's the return of the Bundesliga this weekend, and you might just find that Hoffenheim become a regular fixture in this column.

Die Kraichgauer were the great entertainers in Germany last season, scoring 66 but conceding the same amount, and only Bayern Munich (28) were involved in more games with over 2.5 goals than Hoffenheim (27).

On Saturday, they host newly promoted Kiel, who finished runners-up in the second tier, scoring the fourth-most goals in the division. Their defensive record was solid, with only champions St. Pauli (36) conceding fewer times than their total of 39.

However, the Bundesliga represents a big step up, and Hoffenheim will make it tough for them at the PreZero Arena, particularly Croatian forward Andrej Kramaric, who struck 15 times in the league last season.

A high-scoring contest to kick off the campaign looks likely in Sinsheim this weekend.

Over 2.5 Goals in Wrexham vs Reading (15:00) @ 8/13

Another side likely to feature heavily in the over 2.5 goals column this season is Wrexham, who secured back-to-back promotions by finishing runners-up in League 2. The north Wales side netted 89 times in the fourth tier, behind only champions Stockport County (96) and third-placed Mansfield Town (90), but they also conceded 52 goals.

The Red Dragons started their League 1 campaign off in suitably entertaining fashion, beating Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at the Racecourse Ground before losing 4-2 at Sheffield United in the League Cup.

Phil Parkinson's side held Bolton Wanderers to a goalless draw last Sunday, an impressive result considering the Trotters are among the favourites for automatic promotion.

Back at the Racecourse on Saturday, you would expect a return to the norm, with at least three goals scored. Reading drew 1-1 at expected runaway League 1 winners Birmingham City on the opening weekend before drawing 2-2 at Colchester United in the League Cup, ultimately exiting the competition on penalties.

The Royals then beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 at home in the league and secured back-to-back wins for the first time this term when taking care of West Ham U21s 3-1 in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

Despite finishing 17th in League 1 last season, Reading scored 68 times - more than any other side outside the top seven - but they shipped 70 goals - only relegated trio Fleetwood Town (72), Port Vale (74) and Carlisle United (81) conceded more times.

Saturday's contest has all the makings of being a classic between two sides who only know how to play one way.

Over 2.5 Goals in Olympique Lyonnais vs AS Monaco (16:00) @ 1/2

Lyon's 2024/25 campaign got off to a shocking start last Sunday as they lost 3-0 at Stade Rennais, a scoreline compounded by a penalty miss from summer signing Georges Mikautadze. Scoring goals wasn't particularly a problem for Les Gones last season but they shipped a whopping 55 goals - only relegated trio FC Metz (58), FC Lorient (66) and Clermont (60) let more into their net.

Pierre Sage will be desperate for his side to show more steel on Saturday when they host Monaco at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, but they may struggle to contain the attacking talent in the visitors' line-up.

Takumi Minamino was the hero for the principality club last weekend as the Japan international struck the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over St. Etienne. Minamino was joined in the starting XI by Breel Embolo, Folarin Balogun and Eliesse Ben Seghir, three attackers expected to weigh in with goals and assists in Ligue 1 this term after the summer departure of long-time talisman Wissam Ben Yedder, who bagged a brace the last time Lyon and Monaco met, a 3-2 win for the former in April.

The previous fixture between the pair at Parc Olympique Lyonnais also saw over 2.5 goals scored as Lyon secured a 3-1 victory in May 2023.

With Monaco's aforementioned quartet on the pitch, as well as Mikautadze, Ernest Nuamah and Said Benrahma for the hosts, I'm expecting a few strikes on Saturday.

Over 2.5 Goals in Benfica vs Club Football Estrela (20:30) @ 1/2

Benfica recovered from an opening weekend defeat at Famalicao (2-0) to dismantle Casa Pia 3-0 at the Estadio da Luz last Saturday. The Lisbon club will be equally confident of dispatching Estrela when the Primeira Liga minnows pitch up tomorrow.

Estrela were easily beaten 3-0 at home by Famalicao on Monday and have suffered greatly against Benfica in recent years, losing 4-0 in the Taca de Portugal in January 2021 and 3-2 in the League Cup in November 2022. Last season was their first in the top flight since 2008/09 and they lost both head-to-heads with the Eagles, going down 2-0 at the Estadio da Luz last August and 4-1 at home in January.

Benfica should romp to another easy win this weekend as they look to build up some steam heading into more challenging fixtures.
