Nottingham Forest and Manchester United will both be looking to finish 2023 in style when they lock horns at the City Ground on Saturday evening (17:30).

Both sides are coming off impressive Boxing Day victories - Forest enjoyed a fantastic 3-1 win away at Newcastle, while United came from two goals behind to beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Prediction

  • Nottingham Forest to win @ 2/1
  • Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Team News

Willy Boly returns for Nottingham Forest after he was suspended for the trip to Newcastle, while Ibrahim Sangare faces a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards. Taiwo Awoniyi, Serge Aurier and Felipe remain on the treatment table.

Anthony Martial has missed the last few games with illness and remains a doubt for this game, while both Sofyan Amrabat and Luke Shaw missed the win over Aston Villa and could be doubts here.

In addition, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are all ruled out with injury for the Red Devils.

Match Odds

Forest are 2/1 to claim all three points, while United are 5/4 to make it back-to-back wins, and the draw can be backed at 5/2.

Both teams to score is 4/7, and Rasmus Hojlund is favourite to score anytime at 15/8, after opening his Premier League account against Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest to win @ 2/1

As mentioned above, Forest stunned Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Boxing Day, thanks to Chris Wood's hat-trick, ending a run of seven Premier League games without a victory. The Tricky Trees were also very unlucky in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth which was Nuno Espirito Santo's first game in charge.

In addition, Forest have been difficult to beat at the City Ground since their promotion to the Premier League, and it was arguably the main reason for their survival last year.

As for United, they've been woeful on the road with only eight goals scored in their nine away games this term, and they've not scored an away goal since the 3-0 win against Everton in November.

Although the dramatic win over Aston Villa builds some momentum heading into Saturday, United have shown that they're an incredibly inconsistent outfit, and I think Forest's continued 'new manager bounce' will see them over the line here.

Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Both teams are not renowned for their watertight defences, and I think there'll be plenty of goals in this game.

Nottingham Forest have been leaky at the back and their matches have provided lots of entertainment this season, as there has been 56 goals in their 19 games.

As for United, they've shipped at least two goals in three of their last four league outings, and they've only kept one clean sheet in their last eight games across all competitions.
