Newport County welcome Manchester United to Rodney Parade in the fourth-round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon (16:30) in what is another big cup tie for the League Two outfit, after having faced United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in recent years.

They overcame National League side Eastleigh in a third-round replay to secure this showdown, while the Red Devils defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 to get to this stage.

Newport vs Man United Betting Tips

  • Draw/Man United - Half-time/Full-time - 4/1
  • Both teams to score - 6/5

Match Odds

Newport are a whopping 25/1 to cause a huge FA Cup upset this weekend. If you fancy the Welsh side to force a replay at Old Trafford, a draw can be backed at 11/1. There is no value in picking Man United to win at the short price of 1/16.

Both teams to score is priced at 6/5 and over 2.5 is marketed at 2/9.

Team News

Newport boss Graham Coughlan has two defensive injuries to deal with heading into the weekend in Josh Seberry and Declan Drysdale, but the latter could make a late return to the squad.

Man United forward Anthony Martial has suffered another injury setback as the Frenchman is set to be sidelined for around 10 weeks following a groin operation. Also in the treatment room are Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia.

Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat are unavailable due to their participation at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon and Morocco respectively.

Draw/Man United - Half-time/Full-time @ 4/1

We like the look of this particular market because how often do we see teams from the lower leagues frustrate opponents from the Premier League, particularly when they are on home soil.

Newport did it against Spurs a few years ago to earn a trip to Wembley Stadium in a replay. We may not fancy them to get a trip to Old Trafford on this occasion, but we do think that they can give United boss Erik ten Hag a lot to think about come the half-time interval.

The Exiles have been defensively solid at home recently, with just two goals conceded in the first-half of their last 10 League Two matches at Rodney Parade. They have also not been trailing at the break in any of their last 13 FA Cup encounters on home soil.

We can see them making life difficult for the Red Devils, forcing them to move through the gears in the second-half to get themselves through to the fifth round.

Draw/Man United at 4/1

Both teams to score @ 6/5

Seeing as we feel as though the League Two side can head into half-time level, we think this will boost their confidence in the second-half and believe both teams to score is worth backing.

With the home advantage factored in, as well as the level of opponent they are facing, it feels as though the lower-ranked side will always have a moment scripted into the cup tie, and Newport might just get one here.

We don't think that this would affect our other tip mentioned above, if anything a Newport goal could just be a consolation in the game, and if they were to take the league, it would force United to up their performance levels.

Both teams to score at 6/5
