Newcastle United vs Wolves Prediction: Toon Army in rampant form

Red-hot Newcastle United are looking for their ninth consecutive victory across all competitions when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to St James' Park on Wednesday night (19:30, live on TNT Sports 3).
The hosts survived a scare to sink Bromley in the FA Cup third round at the weekend, while Wolves also managed to progress to the next stage by beating Bristol City away from home. Read on for my Newcastle United vs Wolves prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Newcastle United vs Wolves Betting Tips
Team News
Newcastle will be witout Harvey Barnes after the former Leicester City winger was forced off at half-time in the FA Cup victory over Bromley with a muscle problem.
Eddie Howe is hopeful that Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Jacob Murphy can return here after the trio weren't risked in weekend cup win. However, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Emil Krafth and Nick Pope are still sidelined for the hosts.
As for the visitors, Craig Dawson, Nelson Semedo and Toti Gomes are all likely to miss out again, while Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore, Enso Gonzalez and Yerson Mosquera are all notable long-term absentees.
However, Matheus Cunha has served his two-match suspension for misconduct against Ipswich Town, and will be available to lead the line.
Newcastle United vs Wolves Odds
Given their form, it's unsurprising to see that Newcastle are 1/3 favourites for this contest, giving them an implied win probability of 75%. The draw is 9/2 and the Wolves win can be backed at 8/1.
Isak leads the anytime goalscorer market at 4/6, while Cunha is shortest-priced for the visitors at 11/4.
Newcastle United to win and both teams to score - yes @ 6/4
Newcastle look relentless at the minute and are showing no signs of slowing down, as they seek a ninth consecutive victory across all competitions on Wednesday night.
The Magpies started 2025 off with a bang, recording away wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal before the aforementioned victory over Bromley in the FA Cup.
Howe's side have been full of goals recently, scoring at least twice in each of their last 10 matches in all competitions, recording 4-0 wins over strugglers Leicester and Ipswich in that run.
Now they face a Wolves unit with the worst defence in the English top-flight with 45 goals shipped in 20 matches. Vitor Pereira's side have kept just three league clean sheets this term, and also failed to keep out Championship outfit Bristol City in the FA Cup at the weekend.
However, the return of Cunha provides a boost to the visitor's forward line and given that both sides got on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture at Molineux, I'm tempted to back it once again here alongside a Newcastle win.

Alexander Isak to score anytime @ 4/6
Isak recently sustained a thigh injury, but Howe is hoping his star striker can return to the fold here, given the recent FA Cup break.
The Sweden international has been in sensational form for the Magpies, netting 13 goals in the league this term, and the 25-year-old is on the cusp of history for Newcastle.
A goal for Isak on Wednesday night would see him break Alan Shearer and Joe Willock’s club record by scoring in eight consecutive Premier League matches.
If the former Real Sociedad striker isn't at 100 per cent for this encounter, Howe may opt to bring him off the bench, so I'm going to back Newcastle's number nine to score anytime, rather than first or last.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
