Newcastle welcome Bournemouth to St. James' Park on Saturday afternoon (15:00) as Eddie Howe reunites with his former club.

The Cherries won the reverse fixture between the sides back in November, but the Magpies have taken seven points from their last three matches.

Newcastle United vs Bournemouth Prediction

  • Newcastle to win and both teams to score @ 15/8
  • Over 3.5 goals @ 6/5

Team News

Newcastle have been dealt a significant injury blow as Callum Wilson is facing up to 12 weeks on the sidelines, while Alexander Isak remains a doubt with a groin problem.

Nick Pope continues to recover from a shoulder injury, Matt Targett has a thigh issue, while Harvey Barnes could return to the starting XI after recovering from a foot injury.

As for Bournemouth, Philip Billing returns from a one-game suspension, but Tyler Adams, Max Aarons, Ryan Fredericks, James Hill and Darren Randolph all remain in the treatment room.

Match Odds

Newcastle are favourites to win on home soil at 5/6, the draw is 3/1 and a Bournemouth victory is also the same price.

Both teams to score can be backed at 4/9, while Dominic Solanke is the favourite to score anytime at 11/8.

The most notable thing about Newcastle's recent results is the number of goals their games are generating.

Their last home outing was the 4-4 draw with Luton where Eddie Howe's side fought back from a 4-2 deficit,  and there have been at least four goals in each of their last six league outings, including last week’s 3-2 triumph at Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies have won three of their last four across all competitions and they'll fancy their chances against a Bournemouth side that are winless in their last five in the Premier League.

However, I'm fully expecting the Cherries to get on the scoresheet here, as a 3-0 defeat at Everton in October has been the only occasion on the road where they haven’t scored this term. Dominic Solanke has been a key factor in this, proving himself to be one of the league's most potent strikers so far this campaign.

Over 3.5 goals @ 6/5

As mentioned above, a key theme in Newcastle's recent outings has been plenty of goalmouth action - their last six Premier League games have all featured at least four goals. In fact, no team outside the top three have scored more league goals this season than the Magpies' tally of 51.

Bournemouth have only failed to score once in their 11 away games in the league, and I suspect they'll play their part in a high-scoring clash.

Newcastle haven't kept a clean sheet in the league since a 3-0 win over Fulham in December, while Bournemouth's last shut-out also came in a 3-0 against the Cottagers on Boxing Day, so I'm expecting plenty of goals on Saturday.

Over 3.5 goals at 6-5
