Motherwell vs Kilmarnock Prediction: Lanarkshire stalemate in store

The Scottish Premiership gets going early this weekend as Motherwell and Kilmarnock kick things off with some Friday night (19:45) action at Fir Park.
Read on for my Motherwell vs Kilmarnock predictions, complete with match odds and team news at time of publication.
Motherwell are 11/8 favourites to get the win on their own patch, with Kilmarnock priced at 2/1 to emerge with maximum points and the Fir Park stalemate priced at 23/10.
Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 1/1, while Bruce Anderson is 6/1 to score the first goal and 14/1 to net two or more for the home side.
Team News
Stuart Kettlewell and the home side are likely to be without the services of Callum Slattery, Jack Vale, Paul McGinn and Ross Callachan once more as this game is expected to come too soon.
With those two recent wins under their belts, the Steelmen are unlikely to make sweeping changes.
Robbie Deas was sent off very early on in Kilmarnock's win over Hearts and will begin his suspension now.
Stuart Findlay is also ruled out through an ankle injury, while Robby McCrorie went off with a knock last weekend and is to be assessed late.
Kyle Magennis has been plagued by injury this season and is a doubt once again despite a four-minute cameo at Dundee United earlier in the month.
Draw @ 23/10
Both teams can earn a point at Fir Park. Well are going for three league wins on the bounce here, but they haven't managed that since September 2023 and they have mixed three wins and three defeats in the last six league games.
Killie have lost just one of their last four in the league, a disappointing trip to Ibrox when Rangers outclassed them.
Four of the last seven meetings between this pair have ended level after ninety minutes. The evenly-matched nature of the sides is further embellished by the fact they played out a 1-1 draw here in February and they needed extra-time in the League Cup in August to separate them.
The Steelmen have drawn once in 16 Scottish Premiership games this season, but Killie have started to show some resilience in recent weeks and can claim a point.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Apostolos Stamtelopoulos to score first @ 11/2
Australian striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos joined Motherwell in the summer from Newcastle Jets. He has plenty of A-League experience and the 25-year-old is now finding his feet in the less sunnier climes of Lanarkshire.
Injuries meant it was stop-start for him in the autumn, but he fired a brace against the Terrors last weekend to make it three goals and an assist in three starts this month.
He took less than 60 seconds to break the deadlock last weekend and it would come as no surprise if he kicks on now that he is enjoying an extended run of starts.
