Motherwell vs Celtic Betting Tips:

  • Back Both teams to score @ 5/6
  • Back Half-time draw @ 7/4

Motherwell welcome Celtic to Fir Park for an intriguing game on Sunday's high noon kick-off. The visitors led the Premiership table since the summer and were previously eight points clear of Rangers and the chasing pack.

Last season’s treble winners are now second in the pecking order, desperately trying to hold onto the coattails of an improving Rangers side that could pull clear under manager Philippe Clement.

Motherwell recognise the pressure their opponents are under heading into this contest and will aim to use it in their favour. The Steelmen started the week down in ninth position in the top flight, but Stuart Kettlewell’s team is climbing, and they’ve lost just one of their last five games at this level. Can the locals take at least a point from this game? Keep reading for our pre-game preview and predictions.

Motherwell vs Celtic Odds

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic are up against it here, but that’s not reflected in the pre-game betting odds available to all customers on the Betfred app and website. Traders expect an away win and make Motherwell outsiders to claim a famous victory on their spot against a high-profile opponent. That’s sure to catch the eye of value hunters.

Despite being written off by the Betfred trading team, Motherwell has drawn two of their last three games against Celtic and lost the spare due to a 90th-minute winner from Matt O’Riley at Fir Park in September. Another draw is 9/2, with victory for Motherwell priced at 17/2 and a much-needed away win trading at 3/10.

Both teams to score @ 5/6

With both teams needing the three points for different reasons, we expect a tense and nervy 90 minutes of action from Fir Park. Motherwell understands victory would catapult them up the table and towards a top-six finish, while Celts need the three points to keep the pressure on leaders Rangers.

Flicking through the stats associated with this fixture, we note both teams scored in the last game at Parkhead when Motherwell snatched a point following a 1-1 draw. Interestingly, both teams have scored at least one goal in each of the last four meetings, and that’s a run that stretches back to October 2022 in the League Cup. Both teams to score again at the odds offered seems worthwhile and it could do a job in your Sunday multiples.

Half-time draw @ 7/4

Past results show Celtic doesn’t lose to Motherwell often but the Steelmen always pushes the Bhoys hard. Motherwell scored in the 90th minute to snatch a draw in Glasgow last time and all three goals in a 2-1 Celtic win at this venue in September came after the 87th minute. In the two previous games, we’ve seen five goals scored late in the game.

With that in mind, we’re backing this clash to be level at half-time, which will give backers a shot at better odds than the previous pick. Both games involving Motherwell and Celtic were goalless at the interval and it wouldn’t surprise us to see something similar on Sunday. Back a draw at half-time and hope for a tense opening 45 minutes.
