Middlesbrough takes on rivals Sunderland in the Championship on Monday evening with both sides looking to boost their promotion chances.
Read on for my Middlesbrough vs Sunderland prediction, as well as the latest match odds and team news.
Team News
Boro striker Emmanuel Latte Lath is closing in on a move to Atlanta United and is unavailable for this clash, although he was expected to miss out anyway after picking up a muscle injury last time out.
Riley McGree, Anfernee Dijksteel, Jonny Howson, Tommy Conway, Darragh Lenihan, Tom Smith, Alex Bangura, Solomon Brynn and Seny Dieng are also all sidelined for the hosts.
Sunderland also have a number of injury issues, with Aji Alese, Alan Browne, Tom Watson, Niall Huggins and Romaine Mundle absent for the visitors.
Middlesbrough vs Sunderland Odds
Middlesbrough are the 13/10 favourites to land a much-needed three points at the Riverside, with the draw priced at 23/10 and Sunderland 21/10 to record their first win on Teesside in the league since 2005.
Draw @ 23/10
Middlesbrough have stumbled since the turn of the year, winning just two of their last six matches in all competitions to leave them seventh in the Championship table and outside of the play-off positions on goal difference.
Fourth-placed Sunderland are still clinging on to the three sides above them in the standings, with six points the gap to Sheffield United in second, meaning any more slip-ups could cost them a shot at automatic promotion.
The Black Cats have been excellent at home this season, where they are unbeaten in 14 league matches, but it has been a different story on the road with just two wins from their last nine away assignments.
Five of those contests have ended in draws for Sunderland, taking a share of the spoils at QPR, Preston, Millwall, Blackburn and Burnley, so Regis Le Bris' side may have to settle for another point.
While Boro are unbeaten at six at home in the league, three of those have been draws and these two could grab a point each from what could be a gritty, hard-fought contest.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Trai Hume to be sent off @ 33/1
Sunderland haven't been afraid to get stuck in this season, picking up 60 yellows and three red cards, and the cautions could flow in what is expected to be a feisty clash.
There have been four red cards shown in the last six meetings between these two sides and another dismissal could be shown at the Riverside, with visiting defender Trai Hume potentially in trouble.
The 22-year-old defender has been cautioned seven times this season and he has also picked up yellows in the last two meetings against Boro.
In a hostile environment, Hume could lose his head and be sent down the tunnel early by the referee.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
