The biggest game of the weekend in the Premier League sees the two most successful clubs in English football go head-to-head at Old Trafford. Man United host Liverpool on Sunday afternoon (16:00), as Dutch duo Arne Slot and Erik ten Hag go head-to-head for the first time in the Premier League.

Bruno Fernandes and Mo Salah to score
I think we’ve found some excellent value here, with this bet builder coming in at 100/1. Now, I truly don’t know who is going to win this game, so I’m steering clear of any results-based bets. Manchester United came up with two big performances at Old Trafford against Liverpool last season, and it’s still far too early in the season to be convinced by Arne Slot’s side, even though they have won two from two so far.
I’m steering well clear of backing either side to win, as I just don’t think it offers much, and instead I’m backing goals and cards. This game should be a cracker in the perfect Sunday afternoon slot, and with the attacking talent on show, I think we will see goals. My first pick is for Bruno Fernandes to score for Manchester United.
Given he hasn’t scored so far this season, some may be concerned about it, but I think it is only a matter of time before he finds the net. He’s had three shots on target, and four in total this term already. He’s United’s designated penalty-taker, and in Ten Hag’s 4-4-2, he plays as one of the most advanced players on the pitch. It’s a great value selection in my eyes.
Backing Mo Salah to score is more obvious, but still gives us value. He should be able to get at this Man United defence, and has a wonderful record at Old Trafford, with six goals in his last four appearances at the home of the Red Devils. He’s scored on each of those last four visits, and I’m backing him to find the net again here.
Casemiro and Dominik Szoboszlai to be booked
These games are usually fairly feisty, so I’m happy to pick out two feisty midfielders to pick up yellow cards. Casemiro is the obvious choice having already picked up 14 yellows and two reds in his Premier League career, and up against this tricky Liverpool attack he could find himself in trouble again.
We’ve seen him get caught out on a number of occasions and although he will look to improve this season, he is the master of the tactical foul, and won’t hold back in front of a baying United crowd. Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai is perhaps less obvious, but he is guaranteed to start for Liverpool in the number 10 role.
He’s not your traditional number 10 however, and his physique and willingness to work makes him a prime candidate to get booked. He will do his defensive work and I can see him putting in one foul too many in this one. He was also booked last time out against Brentford, so I’m happy with these two selections that take us up to 100/1.
