Manchester United vs Sheffield United

Manchester United welcome Sheffield United to Old Trafford on Wednesday night (20:00) as Erik ten Hag's side attempt to keep their hopes alive of securing European football for next season. The Blades are currently rock-bottom of the Premier League, 10 points adrift of safety, and face a race against time if they want to avoid the drop.

Below you can find my Man United vs Sheff Utd prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Man United vs Sheff Utd Prediction

  • Man United to win and both teams to score @ 13/10
  • Bruno Fernandes to score anytime @ 13/10

Team News

United have dealt with a multitude of injuries all season, and there were more casualties on Sunday afternoon.

Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford will need to be assessed after both players limped off at Wembley, while Casemiro may have to start a second-straight match at the heart of the defence as Willy Kambwala, Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are all injured.

Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain long-term absentees for the Red Devils.

As for Sheffield United, they may welcome back Rhian Brewster after a recent thigh issue, but Jack Robinson is a doubt.

Chris Wilder will have to make do without the services of Tom Davies, George Baldock, John Egan, Daniel Jebbison, Max Lowe, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Chris Basham.

Match Odds

United are massive favourites for the clash at 1/4 - implying they have an 80% chance of claiming all three points - while the Blades are 15/2, and the draw can be backed at 9/2.

Wilder's side have shipped 88 goals so far this term, and United aren't renowned for keeping clean sheets, so backing over 3.5 goals at 5/6 could be a profitable play.

Man United to win and both teams to score @ 13/10

On paper, the Red Devils would surely look at this particular fixture as nothing short of a routine victory.

Still, the chaotic nature of their performances make it hard to definitively suggest United are capable of getting through a game without collapsing, albeit it may not always result in a defeat.

They surrendered a three-goal lead against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, only to have their blushes spared by VAR in extra-time before going on to win on penalties.

Nevertheless, Ten Hag's side should be able to get back to winning ways here against a Sheffield United side on a fast track back to the Championship. The Blades have drawn three and lost six of their last nine matches, although I still think they can get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford as United have looked vulnerable at the back for the majority of the campaign.

Man United to win and BTTS at 13-10

Bruno Fernandes to score anytime @ 13/10

The United skipper scored and assisted against Coventry at the weekend to take his tally to 13 strikes this season.

The Portugal international has scored four in his last four appearances for the Red Devils and will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet against the side with the worst defensive record in the league.

Bruno Fernandes to score anytime at 13-10
