Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon (16:30, live on Sky Sports Main Event) in a game where victory for either side would strike a significant early-season blow in the Premier League title race.

Using Betfred's Bet Builder feature, former England and Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson has come up with a 12/1 (boosted from 10/1) shot for his Man City vs Arsenal bet builder tips.

Man City vs Arsenal Bet Builder Tips

  • Both teams to score
  • Erling Haaland to score anytime
  • Declan Rice to be carded

Both teams to score

Last season's corresponding fixture ended in a 0-0 draw, but I'm backing both teams to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.

This bet has landed in all but two of City's fixtures so far this campaign, and although the Gunners have kept multiple clean sheets already this season, I can't see Pep Guardiola's side firing a blank in front of goal for a second successive game.

Arsenal kept a clean sheet in both Premier League meetings with City last season, however prior to that, they conceded at least once in 16 outings against the Citizens - 40 goals in total.

In addition, the Gunners have only failed to score in one game across all competitions so far this term, so I think backing both teams to score is a reasonable play to start things off.

Erling Haaland to score anytime

Erling Haaland failed to score for the first time this season in the 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in midweek, and he'll be itching to make amends this weekend by getting one over City's title rivals.

The former Borussia Dortmund marksman has scored nine (yes, nine!) goals in just four Premier League outings already this season, so if City are to find the back of the net on Sunday, the big Norwegian seems the most likely source.

Declan Rice to be carded

My final pick is for Declan Rice to be cautioned.

The former West Ham United skipper will return to Premier League action on Sunday, after serving a domestic ban for his sending off against Brighton & Hove Albion.

He could be chasing shadows in the engine room if City control the game the way we know they can, particularly with the absence of Martin Odegaard for the Gunners.

Only two teams averaged fewer fouls per away game than Mikel Arteta's men in 2023/24, and they finished last season's contest at the Etihad with 20.

Sunday's referee Michael Oliver has shown at least four yellows in all four of his Premier League outings this season - including eight in Nottingham Forest's shock win at Anfield - so combining a strict referee with plenty of fouls should result in cautions for the visitors, with Rice at the heart of it.
