Luton were rocked by captain Tom Lockyer’s cardiac arrest in their abandoned game at Bournemouth last week and even though he has left hospital, it should still be an emotional afternoon at Kenilworth Road.

And home fans will be hopeful their team can put up another strong home performance against one of the Premier League’s leading lights as Newcastle have claimed just one league victory on the road all season.

Luton vs Newcastle Betting Tips

  • Over 1.5 Luton goals @ 5/2
  • #PickYourPunt - Luton or draw double chance, Over 4.5 Luton corners & Elijah Adebayo to be booked @ 8/1

Team news

No update has been given as to when Lockyer will be able to play again while Reece Burke and Dan Potts are also ruled out for Rob Edwards’s team. Marvelous Nakamba remains suspended.

There is good news that Marvelous Nakamba is available after a one-match ban.

Newcastle have been beset with injuries for weeks and suffered another blow in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday when Anthony Gordon picked up a knock.

The Magpies, who have a host of long and medium-term injuries, are also sweating on the availability of Fabian Schar, Joelinton, Emil Krafth and Alexander Isak.

Match Odds

Luton will be desperate to make up ground as they aim to drag themselves out of the relegation zone and they are 7/2 to claim their third league win of the campaign.

Newcastle are 8/13 to post their second away win, while the draw is available at 16/5.

Both teams to score can be backed at 8/11 while it is the same price that the game will contain over 2.5 goals.

Newcastle’s England striker Callum Wilson is 7/2 favourite to score the first goal while Carlton Morris is the shortest-priced home player in that market at 15/2.

Over 1.5 Luton goals @ 5/2

It should be a charged atmosphere at Kenilworth Road on Saturday and that should play to Luton’s advantage, so don’t rule them out of making a strong impression against Newcastle.

The Hatters are in the bottom three but they have shown great spirit against some of the big guns in recent home matches, as Liverpool needed a late equaliser to grab a point, they were beaten by an injury-time goal against Arsenal and also gave a good account against champions Manchester City.

There have to be concerns about Newcastle on the road as their 8-0 win at Sheffield United has been their only away success in this season’s Premier League.

The Magpies have conceded at least twice in six of their last seven league games on their travels and the injury-hit team could struggle to keep the direct Hatters at bay, so take the home team to score at least twice.

#PickYourPunt - Luton or draw double chance, over 4.5 Luton corners and Elijah Adebayo to be booked @ 8/1

Newcastle are sixth in the table, but they have been poor on the road, conceding seven goals in their last two away games against Everton and Tottenham and this looks a difficult task for Eddie Howe's injury-hit team, so take the Luton-or-draw double chance as the first element of a #PickYourPunt selection.

Luton tend to attack strongly in wide areas and average six corners per home match. They are likely to see this as a great opportunity to gain some valuable points so a positive attitude could see them have five or more corners.

Hatters striker Elijah Adebayo has been a big threat in his last couple of matches, scoring against Arsenal in the 4-3 defeat to the Gunners and with a towering header in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City.

The powerful forward can prove a handful again and the event of his scoring during the game should also be included in the #PickYourPunt selection.
