Luton vs Man Utd Prediction: Red Devils can continue winning run

Luton Town host Manchester United on Super Sunday, with kick-off at 16:30 at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters were handed a devastating blow in their survival bid as they lost at home to basement boys Sheffield United last time out. Meanwhile, Manchester United are in flying form, having won their last four games on the bounce. 

Below we’ve previewed this Premier League match-up, and given a couple of betting selections. 

Team News

Rob Edwards may be tempted to ring the changes after an underwhelming performance against Sheffield United. Marvelous Nakamba is out, but Mads Anderson could return to the matchday squad. 

Lisandro Martinez and Anthony Martial remain out for the foreseeable future, while Luke Shaw was taken off against Aston Villa as a precaution. The England man will be hopeful of returning here, with Victor Lindelof likely to start if he is not fit. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is close to return to the squad, but Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia will be absent against Luton.

Man Utd are the favourites to win this one, priced at 5/6 for the win. Luton Town are 3/1 for three points, and a draw is also 3/1. If you fancy some goals, BTTS is 8/15 and over 2.5 goals is 4/7.

Man Utd to win @ 5/6

This is a pretty easy pick from my point of view. Man Utd have been exceptional since the turn of the year, and are unbeaten in all competitions in 2024. They are now well in contention to finish in the top four and Champions League football is not out of the question next term. 

Erik ten Hag has seemingly got the best out of his front three of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund and now they look like they can hurt any team in the league. Meanwhile, Luton were looking good before they lost heavily to Sheffield United at home. That was a damaging blow for Edwards’ side, and they have now conceded seven goals over their last two matches. I just cannot see them keeping United out here and the away side should be able to secure another win.

Rasmus Hojlund to score first @ 5/1

Hojlund has been on fire of late, scoring five goals in his last five Premier League games. He has grown into Manchester United’s key man and been the focal point of their resurgence. Interestingly, he scored first last time out against Aston Villa and he opened the scoring against West Ham.

It means we can go one further than backing him to score, and pick him to score first at the attractive odds of 5/1. Hojlund is the real deal, and I believe he will open the scoring at Kenilworth Road.
