Leganes vs Rayo Vallecano Prediction: Hosts can hold their own at Estadio Municipal Butarque

Such is the congested nature of La Liga this season, just six points are separating Leganes and Rayo Vallecano and yet one side is pushing for the European places and the other is battling relegation. Despite an upturn in form, Leganes are just three points above the drop zone with work to do, while Rayo Vallecano are one point outside of the division's top six.

There will be no Renato Tapia or Enric Franquesa for Leganes, who could also be without Diego Garcia.

Rayo Vallecano's two absentees are Raul de Tomas and Jonathan Montiel.

The visitors could start with Randy Nteka up front after the forward scored a brace from off the bench against Girona last time out.

These sides have racked up 16 draws between them in La Liga this term and the stalemate could indeed be the way to go.

Although they are in the mix for relegation, Leganes have made a strong start to 2025, winning three and drawing two of their opening five matches this calendar year.

As a consequence of that run, they have pulled away from the bottom three and they are through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey next Wednesday.

One eye may be on that cup clash with Real Madrid but Leganes have generally managed their fixture list well recently, shutting out Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club in their last two games.

Defensive resolve has been key to their success and a low-scoring match increases the chances of a draw.

As for Rayo Vallecano, they have lost just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and will be in a confident mood after their 2-1 win over Girona on Sunday.

With both sides having proved tough to beat lately, they could cancel one another out and the value is in the draw.
