Lazio vs Udinese Prediction: Eagles to stumble against Little Zebra

Serie A’s action for the week concludes at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night (KO, 19:45) as European hopefuls Lazio host Udinese, who are above the relegation zone only thanks to goal difference.

The Eagles bowed out of the Champions League in midweek after a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany and their hopes for European football next season may take a hit against a Udinese side who have been difficult to beat despite their lowly position in the table. Last week’s fiery encounter with AC Milan saw three Lazio players receive their marching orders, so Luca Pellegrini, Adam Marusic and Matteo Guendouzi will all miss Monday night’s fixture.

Injuries to Patric and Nicolo Rovella will also impact Maurizio Sarri’s matchday squad, with the likes of Daichi Kamada and Danilo Cataldi potentially coming into the starting eleven.

The Eagles have lost each of their last two home games in Serie A, although both those defeats came against current top-four sides in AC Milan and Bologna.

Udinese, despite lying in 17th in the table, have lost fewer games than Lazio this season - with nine defeats to Le Aquile’s 11 - but their tendency for draws is what has cost them this season, with no side across Europe’s top five leagues registering more draws than Le Zebrette’s 15.

An extension to that record could therefore be on the cards in Lazio, with a draw likely to see Lazio fall further away from the European pack.
