UD Las Palmas and Deportivo Alaves meet at the Estadio de Gran Canaria on Sunday (KO, 15:15) in the final game of their 2023/24 La Liga seasons. The hosts head into the weekend in 15th but can rise to as high as 13th, or as low as 17th, while 10th-placed Alaves will be hoping to keep their top-half position.

Las Palmas vs Alaves Betting Tips

  • Over 2.5 total goals @ 1/1
  • Over 32.5 total booking points @ 5/6

Las Palmas have been clear of relegation for some time, and that much has been evident in their form, as they are winless in their last 13 games, nine of which they have lost.

There has been some improvement in the last couple of weeks, as they ended a run of eight straight defeats with a couple of draws against Real Betis (2-2) and Cadiz (0-0), but a victory still evades them.

Alaves, meanwhile, have been in great shape since mid-April, winning four of their last six, including a 1-0 victory over Getafe last Saturday.

Los Blanquiazules are three points behind Valencia but a win on Sunday, coupled with a defeat for Los Ches at Celta Vigo, would see Alaves overtake them through a superior head-to-head record.

Team News

Daley Sinkgraven has missed Las Palmas' last three matches and is a doubt for Sunday, while on-loan Barcelona defender Julian Araujo was substituted midway through last week's goalless draw with Cadiz and could miss out on the season finale.

The visitors are without a trio of players - Carlos Benavidez, Antonio Blanco and Nahuel Tengalia - due to an accumulation of yellow cards, while Aleksandar Sedlar continues to recover from a knee injury.

Kike Garcia is doubtful after being withdrawn in the 41st minute against Getafe.

The hosts are 13/10 to end their long winless run, giving them an implied win probability of 43.5%, while Alaves are 7/4, or a 36.4% chance, to record a victory in their final game.

The draw can be backed at 9/4 and both teams to score at 4/5.

On-loan Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion is favourite to open the scoring for Alaves at 9/2.

Over 2.5 total goals @ 1/1

Las Palmas and Alaves feature very low down on the La Liga over 2.5 goals table, with only Cadiz (nine) and Real Mallorca (10) involved in fewer games with at least three goals than the pair (11).

However, there were four goals in Las Palmas' penultimate home fixture of the season as they drew 2-2 with Real Betis, with two goals scored in each half, while Alaves' most recent away game finished with five goals as Real Madrid thrashed them without reply.

Alaves also drew 2-2 with Girona earlier this month and beat Celta Vigo 3-0 on April 27.

Las Palmas have really struggled for goals in recent months, scoring just three in their last 10, but it's the final day of the season, and at home, they will want to give their supporters something to shout about.

Therefore, I think this could end up an entertaining contest, with a few goals scored.

Over 2.5 total goals in Las Palmas vs Alaves at 1-1

Over 32.5 total booking points @ 5/6

It may be the last game, but that doesn't mean fouls won't be made and tempers won't flare.

Alaves have a big target to aim for, to finish in the top 10, and if they are leading late on, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them try and slow the intensity of the match down and make some professional fouls.

They were awarded 40 booking points last week after being shown four yellow cards (a further one was shown after the final whistle to Omorodion), and 30 in their 2-2 draw with Girona on May 10, which saw 50 booking points awarded in total.

There were four yellow cards dished out in Las Palmas' goalless draw at Cadiz last week, and with a red card on top, that produced a total of 65 booking points.

There were 70 booking points in the reverse fixture between these sides in December, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Sunday's game get near that total again.
