Jordan have been the surprise package at this year’s Asian Cup but their journey in Qatar may come to an end when they face South Korea at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

South Korea have been made to work hard during the knockout stages in Qatar but they should have the quality to see off Jordan without the need of extra-time in Al-Rayyan.

  • South Korea to win & both teams to score @ 3/1
  • Son Heung-min to score anytime @ 7/5

Team news

Jordan’s Hamza Al-Dardour is available again after he was suspended for the quarter-final win over Tajikistan following his red card in the round of 16 against Iraq.

Jordan have had a settled squad throughout the tournament and they are unlikely to make too many tactical tweaks for Tuesday’s encounter in Al-Rayyan.

South Korea will have to manage without Kim Seung-gyu after he suffered cruciate ligament damage in the group stages.

Park Yong-woo and Hwang Hee-chan were drafted in for the quarter-final win over Australia and will be eager to retain their places in the Taegeuk Warriors first XI.

Jung Seung-hyun and Lee Jae-sung were the players replaced from the last-16 victory over Saudi Arabia and will be pushing for a return to the starting line-up.

Match Odds

South Korea are heavy favourites in the 90-minute market at 1/2 for victory, while Jordan are 5/1 to pull off a shock victory in regulation time.

A stalemate, which would take the contest into extra-time at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, is available at 11/4.

South Korea to win & both teams to score @ 3/1

South Korea were one of the pre-tournament favourites but while they have managed to reach the semi-finals, it has been far from a comfortable ride to the final four.

South Korea made a strong start to proceedings with a 3-1 win over Bahrain, but a 2-2 draw with Jordan followed by a 3-3 thriller with Malaysia meant they had to settle for second spot in their pool.

Needing penalties to get past Saudi Arabia and extra-time to beat Australia, South Korea have managed to hold their nerve in the knockouts.

However, conceding goals has been an issue for the Taegeuk Warriors at this Asian Cup and it would be no surprise to see Jordan get on the scoresheet once more.

However, South Korea are a side that appears to be growing in confidence and they have the quality in their ranks to claim victory before the need for extra-time or penalties.

Heung-min Son to score anytime @ 7/5

When it comes to quality, Tottenham’s Heung-min Son is the talisman for his country and he will be looking to lead from the front once again in this semi-final.

With three goals in the tournament already, Son remains three goals behind Golden Boot front-runner Aymen Hussein of Iraq.

However, Iraq have been dumped out of the Asian Cup and Son has a good chance to narrow the gap on Hussein in the goalscoring standings, while also guiding his nation to Saturday’s final at Lusail Stadium.
