Group A enters its second match day at the Africa Cup of Nations and potentially the tie of the group happens on Wednesday (17:00) as hosts Ivory Coast take on Nigeria. We've previewed the game and given you our suggested betting predictions.

Ivory Coast vs Nigeria Betting Tips

  • Match Result - Draw - 2/1
  • Victor Osimhen to score - 13/10

The tournament hosts got off to the best possible start on Saturday, beating Guinea-Bissau 2-0, thanks to goals from Seko Fofana and Jean-Philippe Krasso.

Now, they can seal qualification and go a big step towards topping the group, should they get the better of Nigeria on Thursday.

For the Super Eagles, this is a must-not-lose game, after picking up just a solitary point from their opening game.

Current African footballer of the year Victor Osimhen got off the mark for the tournament but it was only enough to cancel out Ivan Salvador's opener.

A lot rides on this match in Abidjan and could go a long way towards shaping the final positions in Group A.

Team news

Simon Adingra and Sebastien Haller both remain unavailable for this one, having missed the win over Guinea-Bissau through injury.

Nigeria are without Umar Sadiq and coach Jose Peseiro could be tempted to rotate the back here, after their disappointing first game draw.

Match odds

Ivory Coast come into this one as 21/20 favourites to make it two from two in their group games. Nigeria need a response and they are 13/5 to do so, with the draw available at 2/1.

As with a lot of the AFCON games the traders expect this one to be a tight affair with under 2.5 goals just 4/9. Both teams to score - No is at 8/13.

Match Result - Draw - 2/1

These two sides are separated by just two spots in the FIFA World Rankings and there really isn't a great deal to split them looking at the respective squads.

Obviously, Ivory Coast have the home advantage but the crowds have hardly been hugely vocal and that shouldn't make much difference.

Nigeria flattered to deceive in their opening game but they have a strong squad and should be able to live with the Ivorians here. Obviously they will be going for the win but another draw isn't a disaster for either team.

Victor Osimhen to score - 13/10

Osimhen was one of the only bright spots from the opening draw and of course, we know what quality he possesses when given the chance.

The 25-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football right now, having scored 67 goals in 119 appearances for Napoli.

He also takes penalties for the Super Eagles, so I like his chances to score his second of the competition here.
