Ipswich Town will welcome Sunderland to Portman Road on Saturday afternoon (17:30) hoping to end a five-game winless streak.

Meanwhile, the Black Cats will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing FA Cup defeat to their bitter rivals Newcastle United last weekend.

Ipswich vs Sunderland Prediction

  • Ipswich to win @ 11/10
  • Both teams to score @ 8/11

Team News

Sam Morsy will serve the second of a two-game suspension here for the hosts, while Lewis Travis could be handed his Ipswich debut after signing from Blackburn Rovers.

As for Sunderland, the likes of Niall Huggins, Dennis Cirkin and Patrick Roberts are expected to remain sidelined through injury.

Match Odds

Ipswich are 11/10, the draw is 5/2 and Sunderland can be backed to win at 12/5.

Conor Chaplin is favourite to score anytime at 15/8, while over 2.5 goals can be backed at 5/6.

Ipswich to win @ 11/10

Despite Ipswich's dip in form, they can boost their automatic promotion hopes here with a victory.

The tough trip to Suffolk comes at a difficult time for Sunderland, who were hugely disappointed to lose 3-0 at home to Newcastle in the FA Cup third round, as mentioned above.

The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in their last six outings in all competitions at Portman Road, and Sunderland's performance against Newcastle last week displayed that they are far from the finished article under Michael Beale.

Both teams to score @ 8/11

Ipswich love a goal-fest at Portman Road and I'm expecting visitors Sunderland to try and fight fire with fire.

Kieran McKenna's side are winless in five in the league, with goals hard to come by of late, netting just three times in that period, which is unlike them. However, the Tractor Boys have netted 33 times in 13 outings at Portman Road this season, so I think they're more than capable of finding the back of the net on Saturday.

Both teams have scored in 10 of Ipswich's 12 home games this term, and although none of Sunderland's last seven away matches have gone over 2.5 goals, I believe they can get on the scoresheet this weekend.
