Lionel Messi and Inter Miami made a disappointing start to the Club World Cup as they drew 0-0 with Al Ahly on opening night, but they will try to cause a shock when they face Porto tonight (20:00 BST, DAZN).

Samu Aghehowa to score

Despite the goalless scorelines, there were plenty of chances in those opening fixtures and only some impressive goalkeeping kept the clean sheets intact. I believe we will see plenty of goals in this entertaining match with Samu Aghehowa the main goal threat for Porto. 

Having hit 19 goals in the Primeira Liga, Aghehowa should be full of confidence and he should be able to make the net bulge against this Inter Miami defence. He could have been a Chelsea player had that transfer gone through last summer, but a move to Porto has probably worked out better for the Spaniard in the long run. 

The Herons looked massively shaky against Al Ahly, with goalkeeper Oscar Ustari putting in an astonishing display, even saving a penalty to keep his clean sheet intact. However, I don’t think they will be able to keep Aghehowa at bay in this one. 

Lionel Messi to score

Oh, go on then. It may feel like sentiment to back Messi to score at this point, but if the Herons are going to find the net, it is likely to be their star man. He has been in decent form, netting five goals in his last four matches, while he has scored 15 goals in 21 appearances for Inter Miami this term. 

Messi remains the biggest draw in world football, even if he isn’t at the peak of his powers. He will surely get his moment at this Club World Cup and Porto conceded an xG of 2.00 against Palmeiras, so they are defensively susceptible. Let’s back the Argentine great to find the net at any time. 

Over 8.5 corners

Inter Miami managed to accumulate a whopping 10 corners against Al Ahly in their first match, even though they failed to score. I’d like to add a sensible corner selection to this Bet Builder as a result, given there were plenty in their opener. We all know about Busquets’ personality, and his role in every team. He is the destroyer and the man who will make tactical fouls, and that hasn’t changed in MLS. He’s picked up five yellows in 23 matches in the United States of America, and will have to be at his brutal best to stop this Porto attack. 

I think he will get booked in this one, while Neuhun Perez is a yellow card merchant for Porto. He’s managed to get 15 yellows over the course of the season, including getting booked off the bench against Palmeiras. Even if he doesn’t start, I think he is a prime candidate to get a caution once again.
