Iceland vs Turkey Prediction: Akturkoglu can haunt hosts again

Iceland welcome Turkey to Reykjavik on Monday (19:45) in the Uefa Nations League. The hosts came from two goals down to salvage a point against Wales in their last outing on Friday, so they will be spurred on from that result.
Turkey were 1-0 victors over Montenegro to record a second successive victory in League B Group 4. Read on for my Iceland vs Turkey prediction, including match odds and team news.
Iceland vs Turkey Betting Tips
Iceland are 18/5, or a 21.7% chance, to win this match. Turkey are valued at 4/5 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 55.6%. The draw is available at 13/5 (27.8%).
Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5 and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 10/11.
Turkey's Kerem Akturcoglu netted a hat-trick in the reverse fixture last month and he is priced at 11/2 to open the scoring on Monday, or 2/1 to score anytime.
Team News
Iceland have been unable to call upon the services of Hakon Haraldsson and Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason this month due to injury, with the former being out since the last international break in September.
Sverrir Ingi Ingason was restored to the back four against Wales and he is expected to keep his place in the side for the visit of Turkey. Former Burnley man Johann Berg Gudmundsson has provided two assists for his team in the Nations League so far and he is expected to start in midfield again.
Gylfi Sigurdsson will be pushing for a start after being limited to a cameo against the Dragons. Boss Age Hareide could deploy a front two of Orri Oskarsson and Andri Gudjohnsen again. If the head coach decides to rotate his side we could see right-back Alfons Sampsted come in for Valgeir Lunddal Fridriksson.
Sampsted's Birmingham City teammate Willum Willumsson was handed a start against Wales but was taken off early in the second half last time out. He could drop down to the bench for this clash.
Turkey are without their first-choice goalkeeper Mert Gunok due to injury, so Ugurcan Cakir will continue in goal for the Crescent-Stars.
Caglar Soyuncu, Ozan Kabak, Dogan Alemdar, Cenk Ozkacar and Ismail Yuksek are also unavailable for this clash.
Duo Bertug Yildirim and Merih Demiral have returned to the frame after serving suspensions picked up at Euro 2024, while Brighton's Ferdi Kadioglu is likely to continue at left-back, having missed the last international camp due to injury.
Draw or Turkey and both teams to score @ 6/5
Iceland were well beaten when these two sides met last month, losing 3-1 in Turkey. Akturkoglu was the hat-trick hero that day, so he is a player that Strakarnir okkar will be watching closely on Monday evening.
In the last game against Wales, Iceland started the game slowly and delivered a disappointing first-half performance. The players responded in the second as they managed to rescue a point, and they could have even snatched it.
Their tails will be up heading into this rematch against Turkey, but the Crescent-Stars will provide them with another tough game. I don't think Iceland can afford to start slowly in this one as Turkey will punish them.
The visitors have won their last two games now and will be gunning for a third in Reykjavik. Turkey have a two-point lead at the top of League B Group 4 and they will be eager to try and extend it against Iceland.
Last month's meeting was very one-sided, but I don't think this one will be. Iceland could be spurred on by being the home side, and if they play like they did in the second half against Wales, then they can certainly cause the visitors some problems.
I think the Crescent-Stars have the quality to get another result here, and they will be boosted by the return of defender Demiral, who has a knack for getting on the scoresheet.
However, I think Iceland can pick up a second draw in a row with another strong performance, so I have gone for double chance in Turkey's Favour. I have boosted the odds by adding both teams to score because both teams were on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture last month.

Kerem Akturkoglu anytime goalscorer @ 2/1
This man will be raring to go against Iceland again fter scoring a hat-trick against them in September. The player has been looking sharp in club football after swapping Galatasaray for Benfica in the summer,
Akturkoglu has scored two goals in as many games in the Champions League, while he also has two goals and two assists in four Primeira Liga appearances in 2024/25. He was unable to get on the scoresheet against Montenegro on Friday, so he will be determined to get back among the goals in Reykjavik.
Iceland have grown in confidence since he last faced them but he still has the quality to traumatise them and I think he will come back to haunt them on Monday.
