Hungary vs Slovenia Prediction: Zan the man for the visitors

With no Fifa World Cup to look forward to this summer for both Hungary and Slovenia, there is not much to be gained from their friendly at the Puskas Arena on Saturday (17:00 GMT).

Despite the doom and gloom, this looks like it could be an interesting battle given the attacking options the two teams have on offer. Read on for my Hungary vs Slovenia predictions, alongside the latest team news and match odds from Betfred.

Team News

Donat Barany, Tamas Szucs, Mark Csinger and Aron Yaakobishvili have all received their first call-ups to the Hungary squad.

Daniel Lukacs will be hoping for more minutes, having netted twice in his five appearances to date.

Liverpool duo Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez are set to feature in midfield and defence respectively.

Benjamin Sesko and Jan Oblak are the two notable absences for Slovenia due to injury.

With Sesko out, a rare opportunity may befall Zan Vipotnik to lead the line, having just three caps to his name so far. He may link up with Andraz Sporar in an attacking partnership for the visitors.

Hungary are 5/6 to come out on top here but they have won just two of their last four games.

Slovenia have won three of the past four meetings, although the latest was back in 2008. They are a 16/5 bet to win.

The best-valued result is the draw at 5/2 (implied probability of 28.6%), with four stalemates landing across the visitors' previous six fixtures.

Sesko is a big miss for Slovenia, but they still have two capable attackers to deliver the goods in Sporar and Vipotnik. Hungary also have individuals they can count on in front of goal, including Lukacs, Barnabas Varga and Szoboszlai.

I think there is value in the goals market and I particularly like the over 2.5 price at 1/1, particularly as this has landed in two of the previous four head-to-heads.

Additionally, this has been a winning selection in five of Hungary's last seven fixtures and I reckon this trend will continue on Saturday.

Anytime Goalscorer - Zan Vipotnik @ 3/1

He may only have three goals in 22 appearances for Slovenia but Vipotnik has been a man possessed in the Championship this season. He is the division's top scorer for Swansea City, bagging 17 in 37 matches.

In Sesko's absence, he should get a good run-out in Budapest and his domestic form can help him evolve into a consistent performer on the international stage.

The 24-year-old striker is up against a Hungary side that can look shaky defensively and his 3/1 price to find the net looks too good to ignore.
