Hibs welcome Rangers to the capital for this mouth-watering Scottish Cup quarter-final. The Hibees enjoy home advantage and will be roared on by a sizeable support inside Easter Road, but their recent form against Sunday’s opponents is poor.

Nick Montgomery’s men have already suffered two defeats from two previous meetings with Gers this season, trailing 7-0 on aggregate.

Rangers enjoy a break from Scottish Premiership action where they sit on top of the table, two points clear of Celtic, despite suffering a shock 2-1 defeat when hosting Motherwell last Saturday.

Philippe Clement’s team has already won the League Cup this season and remains in the hunt for an incredible treble in the Belgian’s first season. They come into this one on the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Europa League on Thursday night, which very much keeps their hopes of progressing in that competition alive.

Sunday’s game at Easter Road kicks off at 17:30 and will be broadcast live on television. There will be an electric atmosphere inside the ground as both teams hope to battle their way through to the last four, securing a place at Hampden for the semi-finals. But which team will get their wish?

The pressure is now on the Gers to make a quick-fire return to winning ways. That’s easier said than done following Thursday’s trip to Benfica, but the visitors are certainly capable of grinding out a result.

Flicking through the stats attached to this game, we note Hibs’ dreadful home form when Rangers are in town. The Edinburgh side lost 3-0 to Rangers here earlier in the campaign and have managed just one draw in five games.

The spare was a 2-2 finish here in December 2021. Rangers have four wins in that time, including a few big scorelines. Follow the form and back an away win.

Cyriel Dessers is perhaps the most frustrating player in the Rangers' attack and notoriously difficult to predict. We backed him to score against Motherwell, only to see the number nine pass up several good opportunities. But his stats against Hibs this season are impressive, so we find ourselves giving the Nigerian nightmare another chance.

Dessers scored the final goal in Rangers' 4-0 home win over Hibs in October and was again on the scoresheet when netting the third in a 3-0 victory at Easter Road in January. He has 14 goals for Rangers already this term, making him the club’s second-highest scorer after captain James Tavernier. Let’s keep the faith with Dessers.
