Hearts vs Aberdeen Prediction: Back the score draw on Monday night at a decent price

The Scottish Premiership returns, with four of the six fixtures broadcast live on television. Following a dramatic weekend, the action continues on Monday night in Edinburgh as Hearts play Aberdeen at Tynecastle from 20:00 BST, live on Sky Sports.
Our Scottish football expert Frank Monkhouse has endured a busy week previewing all the live game for us from the SPL and he ends it by penning his Hearts vs Aberdeen Predictions in his match preview here on Betfred Insights...

The 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season arrives at Tynecastle as Hearts aim to get off to a winning start against Aberdeen. The locals have enjoyed an exciting summer, with an unexpected cash investment used to support the new manager.
Derek McInnes sits in the Jambos dugout, and the experienced boss played an important role in convincing star striker Lawrence Shankland to remain at the club, signing an extended contract. He’s worth his weight in goals.
Aberdeen blew hot and cold last season under Jimmy Thelin. The Dons matched Celtic stride-for-stride at the top of the Premiership in the early exchanges, before falling off the pace and watching the Hoops power clear.
A losing streak dragged Aberdeen out of the title race, but they finished on a high, beating Celtic in the final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park. Regulars at Pittodrie want to see their team build on that success.
Hearts vs Aberdeen TV
The Live SPL TV cameras have been working overtime this weekend with four of the six shown on Sky Sports Football. Hearts vs Aberdeen rounds off the weekend with a 20:00 kick-off on Monday evening. You will also be able to live stream the match via Sky Go.
Monday night’s game in the Scottish capital pairs two teams with high hopes of finishing in the top six this season and challenging for the European places. Some sections of the media suggest Hearts could mount a credible title challenge, but that’s nothing new at this time of year. They enjoy home advantage here and aim to hit the ground running.
Will they secure three points at the earliest opportunity? Betfred customers will enjoy 11/10 on a Hearts win.
Aberdeen ended fifth last season and crossed the finish line with the Scottish Cup in hand. Everyone connected to the club demands a much stronger league position, with supporters confident Aberdeen should be the third-best team in the land, but doing everything within their power to split the Old Firm. Will the visitors trouble the Glasgow pair? It’s too early to say, but Thelin and his squad would love to lay down a marker here.
You can back Aberdeen to win on Monday at 5/2 or chance the draw at the same price.
Over 2.5 goals
My first bet in the capital is for the match to produce three or more goals for both teams combined. With this approach, it doesn’t matter who scores and when they land. It doesn’t even matter which team is celebrating at the full-time whistle.
If Hearts vs Aberdeen has more than two goals, your bet’s a winner and you’ll land a solid price. The odds make this bet best suited to your weekend accumulators, but there’s enough there for a single.
With two ambitious clubs meeting so early in the season, I expect a thrilling 90 minutes. There are goals throughout the Hearts and Aberdeen teams, but a lack of match fitness and sharpness will also play a part, so early in the campaign.
There will be plenty of flair in attack, but also a few mistakes in defence and sloppy passes in midfield. Back over 2.5 goals and hope Monday night’s showdown lives up to the hype.

Both score and draw
My second Hearts vs Aberdeen bet comes with more attractive odds attached, picking both teams to score and the game to end in a draw. Studying past meetings, we see both teams scored in three of the four league games last season. Aberdeen won 3-2 at home, there was a 1-1 draw at this venue, a goalless finish at Pittodrie, and a 2-1 away win here in April.
You may remember that Hearts opened with a home draw against Rangers last season at this venue, while Aberdeen edged St Johnstone 2-1 in Perth. Hearts should be sharper than their opponents, thanks to their involvement in the League Cup group phase, where they scored four goals in each of their four games.
These teams drew twice last season, and there was no more than one goal between them in each of their four meetings. Followers will enjoy another tight affair under the bright lights of Tynecastle.
