Gibraltar vs Czech Republic Prediction: Czechs too good to fail in Faro

The Czech Republic has not qualified for the World Cup since 2006, but after a winning start in Group L, they can make it two from two against Gibraltar on Tuesday (19:45, YouTube). Patrik Schick's brace helped them to an unconvincing 2-1 victory against the Faroe Islands in Hradec Kralove and they next face Los Llanis in Faro, Portugal. 

Gibraltar lost 3-1 to Montenegro in Niksic, ending their seven-game unbeaten streak. The streak started with a 0-0 draw against Wales and interim boss Scott Wiseman's future remains unclear. Despite struggling to find their rhythm on Saturday, Wiseman's opposite number, Ivan Hasek, will expect his team, 154 places above their hosts in the FIFA rankings, to extend their seven-game unbeaten run with plenty of time to spare.

Gibraltar are 28/1 to cause a massive upset, with the Czechs just 1/50 to claim all three points in the Algarve. 

The draw is 12/1, while a 2-1 win for the visitors, the scoreline in their last two matches, is 16/1.

Gibraltar may be without their goalscorer against Montenegro, midfielder Dan Bent, He came off with an unspecified issue but regardless of his fitness, Wiseman may switch to a back five.  

For the Czechs, David Zima looks likely to start in defence after replacing Tomas Holes, who suffered a suspected hamstring injury, after 23 minutes.

Hasek's side made hard work of their clash against the Faroes, but Holes' departure may have caused their uncertainty. 

The Czechs flopped at last summer's Euros but have responded well and, with Croatia the big guns in Group L, will fancy themselves to finish above Montenegro and push Vatreni for automatic qualification. 

Tuesday's match will be the first meeting between these countries, so it is tough to draw on any head-to-head history. However, there is a real difference in quality and the Czechs should have too much of it. 

A 4-0 win is 5/1, or a repeat of Gibraltar's 3-1 defeat on Saturday is 14/1.

Bayer Leverkusen's Schick scored both of the Czechs' goals against the Faroes. If he nets again in Faro, he will become the joint-fourth-highest scorer in their country's history, moving level with Tomas Rosicky. 

Still only 29, there could be time for him to match Jan Koller's record of 55 and he will be targeting this game and the reverse match in November as genuine chances to add to his tally. 

Schick's brace on Saturday shows he's in good shape and two or more goals could beckon again.
