Germany vs Denmark Bet Builder Tips: Gundogan and Musiala to hit the target

Euro 2024 host nation Germany were able to salvage top spot in Group A thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Niclas Fullkrug against Switzerland last time out. They head into the round of 16 to face the runners-up of Group C, Denmark, who have not been particularly impressive at the tournament so far.

This meeting takes place on Saturday (20:00, ITV1/STV) in Dortmund, and Germany showed signs of struggle against the Swiss, while Denmark need to improve greatly if they wish to make the semi-finals of this tournament again. Read on for my Germany vs Denmark bet builder tips.

Germany to win in 90 minutes

They had a bit of a wobble against Switzerland, but that is more of a credit to Murat Yakin's team, who themselves have been good to watch thus far. The same cannot be said for Denmark, who have drawn all three of their group matches.

The Danes haven't offered much going forward while the teams they faced in Group C were also flat in attack, which meant they weren't really tested defensively. Germany will certainly do that and I think it will be too much for Kasper Hjulmand's men.

Denmark managed to get out of a group which was set very poor standards. Now that they are about to face one of the stronger sides and the home nation at that, I think their fortune will run out.

With the likes of Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, Ilkay Gundogan and Florian Wirtz in attack, Julian Nagelsmann has more than enough quality in the final third to go out and beat Denmark relatively comfortably.

In addition to that last point, I think the Danes are going to be in for a lot of defensive work. I think Germany will see the majority of the ball here and I think it is going to lead to a lot of frustration among the Danish players, so we should expect quite a few fouls on their part.

Two of their standout players to get penalised in my opinion are Jannik Vestergaard and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The defender and midfielder are not the quickest of players so I reckon that they will struggle against the quick attacking players who like to move the ball quickly.

The two players have already committed four fouls each this tournament, with both having starred in all three matches to date. They are most likely to feature again in this match and I believe they offer good value for this particular market.

Ilkay Gundogan and Jamal Musiala 1+ shots on target

Germany captain Ilkay Gundogan has been busy thus far, helping tick things along in attack for his side. He is no stranger to trying his luck at goal, with seven attempts already at the Euros. Two of them were on target and one of them produced a goal, in the victory over Hungary.

His team mate, Jamal Musiala, has also been having some joy in the final third. The young star has netted twice already from five efforts, with three hitting the target.

These two players are key figures in this Germany team and I expect them to continue this now that we have reached the knockout stage. I think they will see a lot of the ball in and around the final third and are worth backing to register a shot on target.

The host nation have been impressive so far, although they appeared to have a little wobble against Switzerland. However, I think the Swiss were a tougher opponent than Denmark, who have not lived up to the standards they set at Euro 2020.
