AFCON trophy lift

Gambia and Cameroon face off on Tuesday evening (17:00) for a crucial match in Group C at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Scorpions are staring at potential elimination, while Cameroon still have the potential to advance to the knockout stages should they win here.

Gambia vs Cameroon Prediction

  • Cameroon to win @ 3/5
  • Under 2.5 goals @ 8/15

Team News

Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh is one of the standout players for Gambia, who could also start Hamza Barry in midfield. The Scorpions will also welcome Ebou Adams into the starting lineup after the midfielder missed their last match for the red card he received against Senegal.

Cameroon, meanwhile, are sweating on the fitness of star striker Vincent Aboubakar after he missed their opening two games.

Match Odds

Cameroon are favourites to win this crucial Group C clash at 3/5, with Gambia 9/2 and the draw is 23/10.

Both teams to score can be backed at 11/8, while Cameroon won 2-0 the last time the two sides met, and a repeat of that scoreline is priced up at 11/2.

Cameroon to win @ 3/5

I think Gambia will put up a fight, but ultimately, I'm expecting Cameroon's superior quality to shine through here.

The Indomitable Lions have won all three encounters between the sides, and their latest result ended a four-game unbeaten streak. They will be looking to put out a response this week, especially since they still have a chance to advance past the group stages, however slight it may be.

Gambia are on a four-game losing streak and have won just two of their last 10 games across all competitions, so Cameroon will take this one, for me.

Cameroon to win at 3-5

Under 2.5 goals @ 8/15

As mentioned above, I think Cameroon will win the game, however, the potential absence of star striker Victor Aboubakar could result in this being a low-scoring affair.

Each of the previous three matches between the two teams have produced fewer than 2.5 goals, and nothing suggests that trend will change here.

Gambia are yet to score a goal so far at AFCON, and Cameroon's firepower will significantly be hindered if Aboubakar is absent.

Under 2.5 goals at 8-15
