Football Betting Tips: Best Bets from La Liga for Matchday 10

Week nine was not a great one for our Spanish Football expert for his Best Bets column as he went without a winning selection from his three, which continues his recent form of feast or famine, either all wins or all-losses. Here's hoping he swings back the other way this weekend.

Football Betting Tips - La Liga Matchday 10
Osasuna vs Real Betis (Saturday 15:15)
Only Real Madrid have collected more home points than Osasuna in La Liga this season and Vicente Moreno's side will fancy their chances of doing the business again at El Sadar this weekend.
They made it 13 points from five home games this term by ending Barcelona's 100% start with a thumping 4-2 win three weekends ago. While the visitors may not have been at full strength, that shouldn't detract from the quality of Osasuna's performance with the Navarrese side causing problems throughout, particularly with their electric winger Bryan Zaragoza who is shining back in Spain, after a frustrating time at Bayern Munich.
His January move to Bavaria, perhaps came a tad too soon for a player who had only limited top flight experience with Granada prior to that. The 23-year-old looks to be regaining his confidence with a bit of continuity and won his second Spain cap during the international break which would have been a further boost.
22-year-old attacking midfielder Aimar Oroz is also having a good campaign and with Ante Budimir, who scored twice in the win over Barça, a reliable goal threat, there's plenty to like about Osasuna right now, particularly when they play at the atmospheric El Sadar.
It's hard to say the same about Real Betis. They were really disappointing in the Seville derby a fortnight ago, going down 1-0 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to extend their poor recent record in Spain's biggest city derby, even during a period when they've actually been the stronger of the two clubs in the Andalusian capital.
They've largely had favourable fixtures this term which makes a return of 12 points and just eight goals from nine matches seem below par.
It's only five goals in their last six outings in all competitions and all of those goals were scored by recent signing Giovani Lo Celso who has thrived in the number 10 role. It's fair to say then, that news of Lo Celso picking up an injury while on international duty with Argentina, would have only served to sour the mood further in the green and white half of Seville.
They travel north without Lo Celso and with just three league goals from the rest of their squad combined this term. With their opponents looking really lively at home, I'm backing Draw No Bet - Osasuna at 4/5.

Girona vs Real Sociedad (Saturday 17:30)
Girona and Real Sociedad are two teams going through similar experiences right now as they bid to rebuild and move on following high profile summer departures. Both clubs responded to those exits, by largely targeting players who are unproven at the highest level and both sides are clearly something of a work in progress at the moment.
There was a much-needed boost for Girona last time out, as they ended a six-game winless streak in all competitions, by defeating Athletic Club 2-1 at Montilivi. They largely had their goalkeeper to thank for that, with Paulo Gazzaniga saving an incredible three penalties, before earning a 99th minute penalty of their own which veteran striker Cristhian Stuani converted to seal the points.
That was certainly a big boost for Míchel and his troops heading into the international break, but the Girona boss hasn't received much good news since then with no fewer than eight senior players ruled out of this match due to injury. That includes key men Daley Blind and Viktor Tsygankov and is the last thing Girona needed with a must win Champions League game against Slovan Bratislava also to come on Tuesday.
Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil is doing much better on the injury front and while his team has been unconvincing at times this season, there have been signs in recent games that they may be starting to find their groove, with new signings Sergio Gómez, Luka Sucic and Nayef Aguerd starting to settle.
A clearer best eleven, following a summer that saw Spain internationals Robin Le Normand and Mikel Merino depart, is starting to emerge. Their last two league games have seen them brush struggling Valencia aside 3-0, before La Real had the better of a 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid, taking 16 attempts to their opponents' four.
It certainly feels like the visitors are in the better shape of the two teams heading into this match. With fewer injury problems, they'll also have more options to use off the bench and I'm using the Bet Builder to back Double chance - Real Sociedad or Draw and Over 0.5 goals at 3/4.

Atlético Madrid vs Leganés (Sunday 15:15)
There are five teams from the Madrid area in La Liga this season and two of them meet on Sunday at the Estadio Metropolitano. It's the third away game in a row against opposition from the capital for Leganés and they can take a bit of belief into it following draws at Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.
Overall though, there are plenty of worrying signs for the newly promoted side which suggest that they are in for a long season battling against the drop.
A lack of obvious goal threats is the main concern. They are La Liga's joint lowest scorers with only five goals in nine matches to date. Winger Juan Cruz has scored three of those, but none of their strikers have scored yet with neither Sébastien Haller nor Miguel de la Fuente looking particularly convincing in front of goal.
With such limited attacking options, but a defence that has looked relatively solid, Leganés are likely to set up very cautiously in such a tough fixture against an Atlético Madrid side that has won 75% of their home league games since the start of last season.
Diego Simeone's side also remain unbeaten in La Liga this term, but that's not to say they've been totally convincing. With five draws out of nine, they've already lost ground on Barcelona and Real Madrid and their last two performances prior to the international break were poor ones as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat in Lisbon against Benfica in the Champions League, before a scrappy draw in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad.
They are not playing well enough to suggest they'll run riot here, but there is certainly a sense that there's more to come from an Atleti side that added real quality in the summer with Julián Álvarez, Alexander Sørloth, Conor Gallagher and Robin Le Normand joining the club as €185m was splashed on fresh blood.
Simeone is under pressure to get more out of this team and they should have much the better of this game at home to a limited Leganés side.
The visitors are likely to drop deep and are organised enough to suggest they'll be able to frustrate their local rivals. However, with a bit of help from a refreshed Antoine Griezmann, who has recently retired from international football, Atleti should be able to find at least one breakthrough and win the game.
Given that, I'm using the Bet Builder to back Atlético Madrid to win, Under 3.5 goals and Atlético Madrid most corners at 7/5.
