Football Bet of the Day: Can Spain deliver us an away win?

QPR let us down on Saturday, but Sunday’s key football action comes in the Premier League, with Arsenal facing a particularly tough away trip to Newcastle at 16:30. However, in search of some value, we head to the continent and sunny Spain.
There’s an intriguing La Liga clash between Sevilla and Ray Vallecano that I feel offers value. Find Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day down below.
Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, September 28
- Sevilla (A) to beat Rayo Vallecano (13:00) @ 11/4

Rayo Vallecano vs Sevilla Odds
Sevilla and Sunday’s hosts Rayo Vallecano both lost their last outings, so will hope to get back to winning ways when they meet at Estadio de Vallecas. This pits 14th against 12th in La Liga, with Rayo notching five points in 2025/26, just two less than Sevilla.
The club from the capital did well last season to qualify for the Uefa Conference League, and they will begin that European campaign this week, but they’ve shown glimpses of progression again this term. They were 2-1 up at Atletico Madrid last time out but a Julian Alvarez double meant they fell to a late 3-2 defeat.
Rayo have now lost three and drawn two of their six games in La Liga so far, and their only win came on the opening day against Girona - so you can see that they perhaps haven’t hit the heights expected of them after a good showing last term.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Sevilla are unbeaten in their last five vs Rayo Vallecano
- Rayo are winless in their last five league games
Rayo have now lost three and drawn two of their six games in La Liga so far, and their only win came on the opening day against Girona - so you can see that they perhaps haven’t hit the heights expected of them after a good showing last term.
The head-to-head record between these two is certainly worth noting, as Sevilla are unbeaten in their last five matches with Rayo Vallecano and haven’t lost to them in La Liga since 2012. Los Nervionenses were really poor last term as they finished in 17th but they have shown signs of life this term as they have bounced back from early defeat to Athletic Bilbao and Getafe to pick up seven points in their last four games.
Matias Almeyda saw his side lose to Villarreal last time out, but they were competitive and it took a late strike from Manor Solomon to stop them getting a point. I don’t particularly believe the form of these two teams so far in 2025/26 has been taken into consideration looking at the odds. This feels like a game that has been priced up on last season’s league finishes rather than what we have seen so far this term, so I’m happy to back the away side to get the job done.
Sevilla to beat Rayo Vallecano away from home is our Football Bet of the Day at 11/4.
