Tuesday’s football action is plentiful, as we have a midweek round of fixtures in the EFL Championship and Uefa Champions League action to get stuck into.

It means we’ve hunted far and wide for value on Tuesday night and we’ve landed on Hull City vs Ipswich Town at the MKM Stadium (19:45, Sky Sports+). Read on for Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Hull vs Ipswich Odds

Hull City are such an interesting prospect at this moment in time. Just when I was getting on board with their play-off aspirations, they go and lose 3-2 to QPR having led 2-1. Worryingly, in that defeat they conceded an xG of 3.02, creating just 1.12 themselves, so it was a game on paper they deserved to lose.

It’s that statistic that has caught my attention as they host Ipswich Town on Tuesday night. After a poor start to the season on the road, Ipswich have won their last two away games 4-1, and although they dropped points at home to Wrexham at the weekend in a 0-0 draw, they were dominant in that fixture.

Kieran McKenna’s men created an xG of 1.69 vs 0.04, had 19 shots in total and eight on target, as their Welsh visitors didn’t muster a single effort on target. They just couldn’t find the finishing touch, but they are now unbeaten in five, having picked up 11 points during that run. That puts them fourth in the form table behind Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City, and I’d expect them to cause Hull major issues on Tuesday.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Ipswich have won their last two away games 4-1
  • Hull have kept one clean sheet in seven games

I always come back to it when bigging up Ipswich, but their squad depth is remarkable. In the attacking areas they started record signing Sindre Walle Egeli, Chuba Akpom, Jaden Philogene and Ivan Azon, before McKenna replaced that quartet with Kasey McAteer, Marcelino Nunez, Jack Clarke and George Hirst.

You’d expect Nunez and Hirst to start this one as the manager looks to refresh his attack, but he has so many options to choose from at this moment in time. Find his best four is crucial, and Nunez in the number 10 role looks to be a key part of that.

The Tigers on the other hand have a few key injuries to contend with as John Lundstram, Kasey Palmer and Ollie McBurnie all remain out amongst others - and their squad depth isn’t quite as strong. They’ve only kept one clean sheet in their last seven, and three all season, so defensively they are shaky at times and that could cost them their chance at a top-six finish.

Ultimately I think Ipswich could take advantage and with their frightening attack, I think backing them to score another three goals on the road (at least), is good value. Ipswich to score over 2.5 goals at 11/4 is Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day.
