Football Bet of the Day: Back Argyle to lose again

Tuesday’s football action is pretty extensive with action from the Championship, League 1 and the EFL Trophy, and it is England’s cup competition between teams from the third and fourth tiers that has caught my eye, as Leyton Orient host Plymouth Argyle (19:00) at Brisbane Road.
Read on for Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day.
Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, December 2
- Leyton Orient to beat Plymouth Argyle @ 21/20
*Odds correct at time of publication
Once again, it’s worth backing against Plymouth Argyle in every single game they play this season. If you’d have done that, you’d be in profit, as Tom Cleverley’s men have lost 11 of their 17 third tier matches so far, despite only getting relegated from the Championship last term.
I can’t really understand why Leyton Orient are above EVS to win this game, given they sit 12th in League 1 and are eight points better off than Tuesday’s opponents. Argyle have lost seven of their last eight games in all competitions, and just when it looked like they had turned a corner with a 1-0 away win at relegation rivals Port Vale, they were hammered 3-0 at home by Northampton Town - as fans turned against the players.
Cleverley is somehow still in post, with the board continuing to support him, but everything is wrong at Plymouth right now. To make matters worse, Lorent Tolaj was sent off at the weekend and this squad is lacking confidence and quality. Players are being played out of position and they just don’t look like a functional football team at this moment in time.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Leyton Orient have lost just one of their last seven outings
- Plymouth have lost six of their last seven fixtures
They did win two group stage matches in this competition, but then lost to Bristol Rovers in the final group game. Meanwhile, Leyton Orient won three out of three in their group, and hammered Burton Albion 4-0 in their last outing.
That means Richie Wellens’ side are unbeaten in three and look to be playing some wonderful attacking football right now. They’ve scored 29 goals in 18 games and have only lost one of their last seven in all competitions.
They’ve only lost twice at home in the league, while Plymouth have lost six of nine league games on the road. We can use the old cliche and say it’s a cup game and anything can happen, but all signs point to a home win here and the value is certainly there to jump on board.
I would consider backing a League 2 or National League team at this price against Plymouth right now. The fact we are getting above EVS on a stronger League 1 outfit to beat them out home is just lovely. Leyton Orient to beat Plymouth Argyle is Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day.
