Football Bet of the Day: Turkiye provides play-off value

Thursday brings us European Football semi-finals in the Europa League and the Conference League, but for our Football Bet of the Day I’m taking a look at the play-offs in Turkiye.

There’s value to be had in my eyes, and you can find my selection below.

Bodrum vs Pendikspor Odds

It’s fifth vs sixth in the TFF First League as the play-offs continue on Thursday, as Bodrum host Pendikspor at Grey Beton Bodrum Ilce Stadyumu (18:00 BST). 

There’s really nothing to choose between Bodrum and Pendikspor on paper. They finished just one place apart after the regular season, with just one point separating them ahead of this play-off tie. It’s only over one leg, meaning that Bodrum get home advantage, while the tie must be decided on the night, with extra-time and penalties a serious possibility.

In fact, I think we are going to get extra-time in Bodrum, given what we have seen from both teams this season. The pair drew 1-1 in the league fixture in Bodrum, while the other game between these two sides ended 0-0. Nothing to choose between them. 

Bodrum have only conceded 39 goals in 38 league games, while Pendikspor boast the second-best defence in the league, with only champions Erzurumspor conceding fewer than their 33 this term.

In a one-legged play-off tie, both teams are not going to open up and I expect this to be a turgid affair. Bodrum’s last seven results have been 0-1, 1-1, 1-1, 0-0, 1-1, 1-0, 1-0 - with under 2.5 goals landing in each of their last eight outings. Four of those have been draws, and the other three have been decided by just one goal, so we can expect this pattern to continue on Thursday night. 

Meanwhile, Pendikspor have drawn five of their last eight fixtures, with only one of those going above 2.5 goals. Three of their last four games have ended 1-1, so it really does feel as though a 1-1 or a 0-0 is the most likely outcome - forcing extra-time and possibly penalties. 

I’m not willing to put my neck on the line for a winner, so my Football Bet of the Day for Thursday, May 7 is a draw and under 2.5 goals in Bodrum vs Pendikspor.
