Football Bet of the Day: Ferencvaros man to find the net again

Thursday brings with it a feast of European football with matches in the Uefa Europa League and Uefa Conference League taking place. We have quite a number of game-by-game previews here for your pleasure at Betfred Insights but my Football Bet of the Day comes from Hungary as Ferencvaros host Ludogorets (20:00 GMT, discovery+).

Ferencvaros vs Ludogorets Odds

Ferencvaros are unbeaten in this competition after three matches and they have won their last two outings. They are 7/10 to come away with the victory here. Their stalemate did come on home soil against Viktoria Plzen, and the draw is marketed at 3/1.

Ludogorets won their opening Europa League fixture but have lost their previous two. They are valued at 4/1 to come away with the three points on Thursday.

The standout bet for this game, though, in my opinion is for Ferencvaros' front man, Barnabas Varga to score anytime. He is 21/20 favourite to find the net inside the Groupama Arena and for good reason.

The Hungary international has been a regular source of goals for his club since joining from Paks in 2023. In 104 appearances to date across all competitions, the forward has contributed 67 goals and 19 assists. He has a phenomenal record with the Greens and his goalscoring prowess has been a massive help to boss Robbie Keane, who has been in the post since January.

Varga has been in exceptional form in the first few months of the current campaign, scoring 17 goals in 20 competitive games. Two of them have come in the Europa League, which came in the recent wins over Genk and RB Salzburg (both away).

The 31-year-old striker is in red-hot form heading into Thursday's game, having scored in each of his past seven games in all competitions, and this is the kind of run that Ludogorets are going to find tough to stop in Budapest.

Varga has been a consistent performer on this stage, too, with eight goals in 11 appearances in his career to date. And before Ferencvaros ended up in the league phase for this competition in 2025/26, Varga was playing his part to perfection in trying to get the Hungarian outfit into the Uefa Champions League during the qualifiers over the summer.

He was on hand to score six goals in as many games as the Greens made it to the decisive qualifying round, only to lose out to Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag. Varga is unquestionably the player Ludogorets should be fearing the most as he has demonstrated that he is a threat from a wide range of attacking situations.

The visitors have not had the best start in the Europa League this term and they have already conceded six goals. This is the kind of match in which Varga will be smelling blood and he will likely view Ludogorets as a free hit to keep him impressive streak going and move Ferencvaros closer to the top of the table.

They're seventh currently, just two points behind current leaders Midtjylland.
