Football Bet of the Day: Can Can be the man for Eintracht?

For our Football Bet of the Day on Sunday, I’ve taken a look at the Bundesliga to find some value as Freiburg host Eintracht Frankfurt (14:30 BST).

Eintracht Frankfurt haven’t had an amazing start to the season, having won three and lost three of their opening six Bundesliga matches. Dino Toppmoller has got them flying going forward as they have scored 17 times already in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich (25) are the only team with more overall, while Eintracht are level with the current pace-setters for away goals scored (10).

You can tell where I am going with this one then. When these two meet at Europa-Park Stadion on Sunday, it will bring back memories of the final day of the 2024/25 campaign. The Eagles secured a vital 3-1 to finish this in the league, qualifying for the Champions League in the process. 

Ritsu Doan swapped sides over the summer and has already picked up five goal contributions, but it’s another man that has caught my eye this season. Can Uzun is just 19-years-old but has been in fantastic goalscoring form this term. He’s bagged five goals in six Bundesliga games - scoring in every game apart from his last outing against Bayern Munich. 

His average of 1.04 goals per 90 is sensational, and only beaten in Germany by the freak that is Harry Kane. Having also scored against Galatasaray in the Champions League he is quickly gaining the attention of several of the European giants, but for now, he is playing frighteningly well for Eintracht. Now, Freiburg are in top shape and have not lost in their last six and I do believe this game will contain a lot of goals. 

“We’re creating a lot of chances and scoring a lot of goals,” said Frankfurt’s sporting director Timmo Hardung. “We’ve got great aggression going forward. If we can reach the same level at the back then we’ll make it really tough for any opponent to score against us. We can’t keep a clean sheet in every game but what we can do is make sure every opponent has to work incredibly hard to score against us.” 

I think Uzun is a fascinating prospect and given he and Frankfurt are wonderful to watch going forward right now - I think the price of him to score anytime at 15/8 is well worth considering.
