Football Bet of the Day: Hibs dream of Europe once more

The final day of the Scottish Premiership promises to be an enthralling occasion on Saturday lunchtime, with plenty still to be decided at the top of the table. Celtic and Hearts will battle it out in Glasgow for the title, while the race for Europe pits Hibernian against Motherwell (12:30pm).
I turn my attention to Easter Road for Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day.
Football Bet of the Day - 16 May 2026
- Hibernian to win and BTTS @ 18/5

Hibernian’s last two wins have given them a serious chance of securing European football for the second season on the bounce. It’s been a slight drop-off from their third-place finish of 2024/25, but they can and will make it up to fourth if they can beat Motherwell on the final day.
Hibs’ dramatic away victory at Ibrox has taken things to the final day as Dane Scarlett found the net late on, while Kelechi Iheanacho’s injury-time penalty also condemned Motherwell to a defeat on the same night. With five minutes of regular time to play, Jens Berthel Askou’s side were home and hosed, but a swing of three points has meant they have to avoid defeat at Easter Road on Saturday.
That Celtic defeat leaves Motherwell on 58 points after 37 games, just a point ahead of fifth-placed Hibernian, although they do boast a superior goal difference, so a draw would be enough.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Hibs have won their last two games
- Motherwell have one point in their last three
- Both teams have scored in the last four Hibs matches
It is going to be an emotional day for Hibs legend Martin Boyle, who is going to say goodbye to the club after 11 years. David Gray said following the Rangers win: “Yeah, I think Boyler's mindset now is all about wanting to go out on a high and I think you can see that in his performances. Everyone's been pretty open about the fact that Martin will be moving on at the end of the season, but it's certainly not affecting his performances.”
I think that will help the hosts get the job done on the final day. They have won their last two games and have real momentum going into this one, while Motherwell have now picked up just one point from their last three games and it feels like the pendulum has swung.
They thought they may get over the line in midweek, and now they have to go to the capital to try and get over the line. I think both teams will throw everything at it and both should get on the scoresheet, as BTTS has come in during five of the last six Motherwell matches.
Hibs have seen both teams score in their last four, so I’ll back them to win while conceding, at a big price of 18/5 for Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day.
