Football Bet of the Day: Santa’s stress to continue in November

So for my Football Bet of the Day, I am heading to Portugal where Gil Vicente are hosting Santa Clara (20:45 GMT).

Santa Clara have won just one of their four away trips in the league this season and they are 9/4 to come away with the victory on Monday night.

They have drawn one of their past five outings in the top flight and the stalemate is valued at 15/8.

Gil Vicente's last five league wins have been to nil and this selection is marketed at 9/4.

That was a tempting pick for Monday's Bet of the Day but I have gone for the straightforward Match Result market in favour of the hosts at 11/8. They are in excellent form heading into this clash, having won five of their previous six Primeira Liga fixtures - conceding just twice in that time.

Santa Clara have had a relatively bright start to season, picking up three wins from their opening nine matches but they are heading into this clash off a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Braga in the Taca de Liga, with Braga sat one place above them in the league table.

So it is difficult to see the Azoreans laying a glove on Gil Vicente here, who are fourth in the standings after nine games, losing just twice. On top of this, the hosts have only conceded four goals, which is joint-second best defensive record in the division.

The Roosters are in excellent shape ahead of this battle with five wins from six in the top flight, and they are on a run of three games across all competitions without conceding. Santa Clara have struggled on the road with just one win in four games, and they have only managed to find the net on three occasions.

I think their attacking players will be set for further frustration in the final third when they face one of the best defensive units in the league, who are finely-tuned to register clean sheets at the moment.

There is some concern that Gil Vicente will be lacking some creativity in the middle of the park here due to Luis Esteves' suspension, but I think there is still more than enough quality in Cesar Peixoto's squad to pick up another important victory on home soil.

The home side have lost just one of their four league tussles here in 2025/26 and I can't see them suffering a defeat here against a team who are struggling to have an impact on the road. With three defeats in their last five appearances in all competitions, I just can't see their fortunes turning around against this in-form Gil Vicente team.
